"Computer Architecture is Forever": Step Inside the CSARCH2 Virtual Museum Exhibit!

What if exploring complex computer architecture concepts felt as engaging as walking through a museum?

The CSARCH2 Virtual Museum Exhibit is a course-wide initiative led by Sir Roger Luis Uy and the ArchCraft team. The exhibit brings together 53 student-developed CSARCH2 projects exploring a wide range of topics that shape the field of computer architecture, including computer systems, components, history, and more!

Every exhibit was designed to be interactive, giving visitors a hands-on way to explore topics that go beyond the syllabus. The showcase aims to ignite a passion for computing by exploring topics beyond the standard curriculum in an engaging way and sparking curiosity among Lasallians.

🌍 From Manila to Berlin: A Research Exchange at the Robert Koch Institute

De La Salle University’s Dr. Anish M.S. Shrestha, Founding Head of AdRIC’s Bioinformatics Laboratory and Associate Professor at the College of Computer Studies, recently completed a visiting researcher stint at the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) in Berlin, Germany through the RIO Program.

During his visit, Dr. Shrestha shared DLSU’s work on wastewater and antimicrobial resistance surveillance while learning from RKI researchers about their experience in wastewater-based surveillance and genomic research. He also explored opportunities to strengthen sequencing capacity and discussed potential areas for future collaboration between DLSU and RKI.

The visit opened possibilities for joint research projects, researcher exchanges, and co-authored publications, while providing valuable insights that can contribute to wastewater surveillance research in the Philippines.

Game Dev Excellence: Bake or Break Takes 2nd Place! 🧁🏆

A huge congratulations to our College of Computer Studies students for bringing home 2nd Place at the 2026 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week!

Their winning creation, Bake or Break, was developed by Team Tapsealog, composed of 3rd-year BS in Interactive Entertainment students:

Bake or Break is a fast-paced memory game where players help a delightfully strict grandma pack custom cupcake orders. Memorize the layout before it vanishes, then test your reflexes to drag and drop the right cupcakes into place before time runs out! Accuracy and speed are key—too many mistakes or slow hands will end your bakery shift early.

The Gear Up NCR challenge continues to champion Filipino creativity and innovation in the game development and esports industry.

ArchCraft - It is not just a Game!

When students think of games, they often think of entertainment, not education. But what if a game could make one of the most challenging computer science subjects easier to understand?

Introducing ArchCraft, a CSARCH2(Computer Architecture 2) project aimed to teach students how Microprogramming works with the help of 3D Visualization on how signals move within a
CPU, using Minecraft. Developed by Roan Cedric Campo, Enzo Arkin Panugayan, Clive Jarel Ang, and Sensei Roger Luis Uy, the team spent around 6 months creating various components and modeling a fully functional 16-bit Von Neumann Architecture CPU with 1 kilobyte of RAM, using it as a template for students to encode assembly instructions to run algorithms using
assembly code.

The project was incorporated into the syllabus of CSARCH2 as a final project and was tested for its persuasive capabilities and support system to motivate students in learning computer
architecture. The project was a success, showing positive engagement in understanding concepts on a deeper level by playing around with the 3D open computer system, promoting
the students’ autonomy and sense of competency in understanding computer architecture.

The team presented ArchCraft at the Persuasive2026 Conference at Future University Hakodate in Hokkaido, Japan, held on March 11-13, 2026. Their paper is published in Springer Nature as part of the Lecture Notes in Computer Science.

CCS Faculty Members Awarded APAC Cybersecurity Fund

The Asia Foundation has awarded a grant of up to USD 60,000 to faculty members from the Information Technology and Computer Technology Departments of the DLSU College of Computer Studies. As the first APAC Cybersecurity Clinic Partner in the Philippines, the team will design and implement a program to strengthen the cybersecurity readiness of 100 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The project also includes a study that will examine the cybersecurity practices and challenges of Philippine-based MSMEs and generate research outputs to help inform future programs, policies, and interventions.

The project is led by Dr. Ryan Ebardo, Project Leader, and Dr. Marnel Peradilla, Assistant Project Leader, together with Dr. John Faustorilla Jr., Dr. Raphael Gonda, and John Byron Tuazon.
