Calling all DLSU thesis completers!

Writing a thesis is a massive undertaking, and we know that life often gets in the way of the finish line.

The Student Success Center is looking to bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be. We are conducting a brief survey to identify the specific obstacles (technical, personal, or academic) that students are currently facing.

By spending 5–7 minutes on this survey, you are helping us design the specific interventions you actually need.
Thank you for helping us build a better support system for all students.

This year offers us new beginnings and a path to a prosperous future. However, as challenges emerge throughout our journey, we begin to wonder which choices we should make and how these will affect our path to a better future. De La Salle University remains committed to accompanying you on your journey, even in moments of uncertainty. In line with this commitment, the Student Success Center (SSC) now offers individual success coaching services for DLSU undergraduate and graduate students.

What is success coaching?

Greif (2025) defines coaching as “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.” Coaches themselves often describe coaching as helping people help themselves—a strengths-based approach that empowers individuals to address challenges by drawing on their capacities, resources, and aspirations.

Within the Lasallian tradition, coaching is deeply rooted in the principle of accompaniment, a cornerstone of the formation philosophy of Saint John Baptist de La Salle. De La Salle emphasized guiding the young “as an elder brother among younger ones,” fostering growth through compassion, dialogue, and discernment. Lasallian coaching, therefore, integrates heart, faith, and service — supporting individuals in discovering their God-given gifts and vocation within a caring community.

In the context of Lasallian education, coaching serves both personal transformation and communal mission, forming individuals who are reflective, resilient, and purpose-driven — “Lasallians with aspirations for their future”.

In this initial phase, the SSC has focused on developing a pool of trained coaches composed of faculty members, administrators, and staff, in partnership with external coaches certified by the International Coaching Federation (ICF). Since 2023, 25 DLSU coaches across three batches have been trained. These individual success coaching sessions are open to all undergraduate and graduate students, supporting those who seek guidance in achieving academic, non-academic, or personal goals.

We invite you to take this step toward greater self-awareness, clarity, and growth—toward a better you and a more meaningful future.

Did you know that an extreme sacrifice, a 300-year-old promise, launched the entire Lasallian movement? (WATCH THE VIDEO)

Travel back to November 21, 1691, to witness the absolute commitment of St. John Baptiste De la Salle, Nicholas Vuyart, and Gabriel Drolin, who made the HEROIC VOW to educate the children, especially the poor, no matter what. Learn how this dedication, which included readiness to beg in the streets and to live on bread alone, ignited the success story of all Lasallian Schools.

How does this 300-year-old vow matter to you today? The Student Success Center invites all members of the Lasallian community to declare their personal Heroic Vows. See how this personal vow can guide your career development (from class projects and internships to your thesis) and help Lasallian Partners regain their zest for service and increase their resilience during challenging times. Finally, find out how your personal vow will be publicly shown on the LED screen in the Cory Aquino Democratic Space (CADS) on December 1 to 17, 2025.
