‎Last April 15-16, our fellow BLIS 2-1 blockmates were given the opportunity and were able to attend the very first LIS Summit: Academic Leadership in LIS Education—Innovating Teaching, Research, and Community Engagement. The Philippine Librarians Association, Inc. (PLAI), alongside the Bulacan State University and Council of Deans and Heads of LIS Schools (CODHLIS), brought together six speakers who delivered comprehensive presentations.

‎During the seminar, they were able to further enhance their knowledge and strategies on leadership, research, community engagement, and more. The highlights of the event were the 3 talks, the 3 student research presentations, and the meeting establishing the National Student LIS Organization.

𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐦: College of Law, CHK (night classes), Lab High and Senior High, COC, CE, ITech, M.H. Del Pilar Buildings are not included in this announcement.

| All in-person classes at PUP Sta. Mesa Campus - Main Academic Building are hereby suspended today due to a fire incident. Rest assured that the situation is already under control and the fire has been extinguished.

As a precautionary measure and for the safety of all students, everyone is requested to evacuate and safely exit the university premises. This is to ensure protection from possible harmful smoke or air contaminants caused by the incident.

The Philippine Librarians Association, Inc. The summit gathered LIS student leaders and educators to share perspectives and co-create strategies that will shape the future of Library and Information Science education in the Philippines. Each session highlighted the evolving and interdisciplinary role of libraries and librarians in today’s digital age. It became a space where different leadership journeys were recognized, valued, and strengthened. ✨

As we reflect on this experience, we carry with us meaningful insights on ethical, innovative, and inclusive leadership, as well as new learnings from the research presentations. We also look forward to the continued growth of a National LIS Student Organization that will empower future leaders in the field. 🌟🌠
