Benilde SDEAS conducted an introductory training session on photography and videography aimed at developing foundational competencies in visual production. The session covered key principles such as framing, composition, lighting, camera angles, and the fundamentals of visual storytelling.

The training was facilitated by Mr. Shaquille De Guzman, an alumnus of SDEAS and currently the Media Development Specialist at the School’s Center for Partnership and Development. He is likewise currently pursuing his Master's in Learning and Teaching at De La Salle University.

Through structured, hands-on learning activities, participants were engaged in translating everyday visual experiences into intentional narratives, thereby strengthening both their technical skills and their capacity for critical and creative visual communication.

Benilde SDEAS, in partnership with Bayan Academy, recently hosted the Personal & Business Branding Seminar-Workshop, engaging Deaf students and alumni in an enriching learning experience designed to strengthen their entrepreneurial mindset and professional identity.

Participants explored practical strategies for building authentic personal and business brands, developing intentional business plans, and applying research-driven marketing approaches informed by real industry and consumer insights. Through opportunities like these, our learners continue to step forward with confidence, ready to lead, create, and succeed in their own ventures.

Pagulayan, Executive Director of Bayan SEARCH Foundation under the Bayan Family of Foundations, for generously sharing his expertise and industry best practices. More than a camp, it was a powerful expression of inclusion in action 🤟

Established in 2009, the Deaf and Hearing Camp is an annual initiative between Stairway Foundation Inc. (SFI) and De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde SDEAS, designed to foster meaningful connections, bridge communities, and promote shared learning and understanding.

In its 15th year, over 60 Deaf volunteer students and marginalized children gathered in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro, where they built friendships, deepened understanding, and experienced personal growth across diverse communities.

Led by SDEAS Social Responsibility and Outreach Program Coordinator Mr. William Sidayon Jr., the partnership continues to create safe and inclusive spaces where diversity is embraced, and every voice is valued.

Established in 2009, the fellowship event is an annual collaborative project between the lauded Stairway Foundation Inc. (SFI), a non-government organization which provides a safe environment for street children in the country, and the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies (SDEAS).

🎭🎨🎶 SIDLAK: Celebrating Learning, Inclusion, and Community Transformation Through the Arts

The Benilde School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies (SDEAS) proudly celebrates the successful culmination of SIDLAK, the Year 1 showcase of the Arts for Community Development Program, a meaningful collaboration between De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde and De La Salle Andres Soriano Memorial College.

More than a culminating event, SIDLAK stands as a testament to the transformative power of arts-based education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and community engagement. Through immersive learning experiences in visual arts, music, dance, acting, production design, directing, and leadership, participants demonstrated how creativity can become a catalyst for empowerment, inclusion, and social development.

SDEAS is deeply honored to have contributed to this initiative and to have received recognition alongside our partners for our shared commitment to accessible, inclusive, and community-centered education. We extend our sincere gratitude to the facilitators, organizers, institutional partners, local government units, community leaders, and participants whose dedication, expertise, and generosity made this endeavor possible.

The Benilde School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies proudly joins hands with De La Salle ASMC Andres Soriano Memorial College in Toledo City, Cebu, through a newly formalized three-year partnership dedicated to empowering communities through the arts, inclusion, and collaboration.

In partnership with the Benilde School of Arts, Culture, and Performance, this interdisciplinary Community Arts Empowerment Program marks another meaningful step in championing accessible education, creative expression, and opportunities for Deaf and hearing communities alike.

We extend our gratitude to the leaders and partners who continue to support this shared vision, including Toledo City Mayor Hon. Marjorie P. Perales for welcoming the initiative and approving the Toledo City Sports Complex as the official venue for the program’s grand culminating performance in 2028.
