As we celebrate the World Mental Health Day every October 10, we are reminded to take the charge in raising awareness about mental health issues, challenge stereotypes and discrimination, and advocate for better services, treatments, and support systems.

This year’s theme of “Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change”, recognizes the lived perspectives of individuals navigating mental health issues daily. Their experiences then serve as our catalyst in shaping inclusive support systems and drive meaningful reform, as we remain to break social barriers revolving around mental health through open dialogue and self-determination.

Today, the UST Nursing Central Board of Students - STAND Department and the UST Red Cross Youth Council - Nursing Unit stands united as we recognize the mental health of every individual, especially our own Thomasian nursing students. Together, we remain to break the chains of stigma and discrimination on this cause, and ensure to become frontline advocates in emphasizing that mental health is always health.

Behind every spark of curiosity, they believed in us before anyone else did! 💫

To our professors and clinical instructors who were firm when we needed discipline, gentle when we needed comfort, and patient even when we were still learning how to believe in ourselves, thank you. You taught us to look beyond the books and to care with a full heart. 💞
