🌧️ 𝗠𝗮𝗴-𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗮 𝗟𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘀!

Ngayong panahon ng pag-ulan at pagbaha, pinapaalalahanan ang PLM community na iwasang lumusong sa baha hangga’t maaari. Ang leptospirosis ay maaaring makuha mula sa tubig na kontaminado ng ihi o dumi ng mga hayop na may dalang 𝙇𝙚𝙥𝙩𝙤𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙖 bacteria.

Kung hindi maiwasan ang exposure sa baha, huwag basta uminom ng gamot nang walang payo ng doktor. Kumonsulta sa University Health Service o pinakamalapit na health center para sa wastong gabay at libreng gamot, kung kinakailangan.

Maging maingat, Haribons! Kalusugan at kaligtasan muna.

🌿 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗨𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 🌿

Trees are not just mere decorations in urban spaces. They play an important role in how cities manage one of their persistent issues such as 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴. As a key element of green infrastructure and water management systems, trees have the potential to improve and restore natural hydrological processes in urban areas. 🌳🌧️

𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙚𝙭𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙡𝙮 𝙙𝙤 𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙨 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥 𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙛𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙠𝙨? 🤔

The answer lies in the different hydrological processes that occur when precipitation reaches a tree and the ground beneath it. 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 allows leaves and branches to catch rainfall, reducing its kinetic energy and limiting its tendency to cause severe soil erosion and peak flow. Some of this water reaches the ground through throughfall, while another portion flows through branches and the trunk through stemflow.

Once rainwater reaches the ground, infiltration allows it to seep through the soil, where it may be stored as groundwater or absorbed by trees. Trees help maintain porous soil and hold soil particles together, helping reduce erosion. Through 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, water absorbed by the roots travels upward through the plant and eventually ev***rates and diffuses as water v***r through the 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗮.

𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚'𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜…𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙫𝙚 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙛𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜? 🧐

𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸𝘀, but addressing perennial flooding requires more than planting trees alone. A long-term, science-based approach that integrates environmental protection, better land-use and urban planning, engineering advancement, and responsible action from both the government and the public is needed.

After all, understanding how nature works may help us recognize that solutions to environmental problems do not always have to begin with concrete—𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙡𝙨𝙤 𝙗𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙣 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙮𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙪𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜. 🌿💧
