The Alfonso Yuchengco Student Leaders’ Summit 2026 brings together three leaders whose journeys give life to the values at the heart of DECIR—𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲, 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲.

𝗔𝗿. 𝗔𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗗. 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁’s journey reflects 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲. As a licensed architect and Senior Architect at pdp + Architecture, he continues to turn ideas into meaningful spaces through design, visualization, and project development. A Cum Laude graduate and Silver Medalist of Mapúa University, whose journey is marked by continuous learning, purposeful practice, and a commitment to design excellence. His work has earned recognition both nationally and internationally; more than a collection of achievements, his story is a 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲, 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱, one that transforms potential into excellence and purpose into lasting impact.

𝗗𝗿. 𝗗𝗼𝗱𝗷𝗶𝗲 𝗦. 𝗠𝗮𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗼 embodies 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 through the constancy required to guide an institution, uphold its mission, and continue building opportunities for learners. As President and CEO of Mapúa University, his leadership reminds us that purpose is sustained not by intention alone, but by the resolve to continue serving and moving forward. 𝗬𝗮𝘀𝗺𝗶𝗲𝗻 𝗞𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗶 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮 gives meaning to 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 by transforming her influence into a platform for purposeful change. An actress, singer, host, entrepreneur, advocate, and mother with over two decades in the entertainment industry, she advocates for children’s rights, women’s rights, responsible influence, and positive change. A magna cm laude Political Science graduate currently pursuing her Juris Doctor, her journey shows that relevance is not merely about being seen, but about choosing to make one’s voice matter. Her story reminds us that relevance is not simply about being seen or remaining visible, but about 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹, 𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻𝗲’𝘀 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀.

Threading these journeys together is 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆—a value carried not by one voice alone, but demanded of every leader. In view of the scheduled 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐬 to be conducted by Manibela on September 28–30 and PISTON on September 29–30, the Central Student Council (CSC) formally submitted a petition on September 25 to the 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐟𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬 (𝐎𝐄𝐕𝐏𝐀𝐀) requesting consideration of a possible shift in learning modality.

The CSC recognizes that the anticipated disruption in public transportation significantly affects students who depend on public transit, travel considerable distances, or commute from the provinces. These circumstances may pose challenges to students’ ability to safely travel to and from campus and fulfill their academic responsibilities.

In consideration of these circumstances, the petition likewise 𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 for students who may be affected by the transport strikes, particularly with respect to class attendance, submission deadlines, examinations, and other academic requirements.

As of 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟕, 𝟑:𝟎𝟎 𝐏𝐌, the CSC has yet to receive an official response from the Administration regarding the petition. In the absence of an official announcement, 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐝.

The CSC remains committed to representing the concerns of the student body and advocating for appropriate academic considerations for students who may be affected by the transport strikes. The Council will continue to coordinate with and follow up with the Administration and will disseminate further information once an official response is received.

The Alfonso Yuchengco Student Leaders’ Summit 2026 returns for its 3rd year, bringing together student leaders for a day of learning, reflection, and meaningful conversations on what it means to lead with purpose. Limampu’t apat na taon na ang lumipas mula nang lagdaan ni dating Pangulong 𝐅𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐨𝐬 ang 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐍𝐨. 𝟏𝟎𝟖𝟏 noong Setyembre 21, 1972, na naglagay sa Pilipinas sa ilalim ng Batas Militar. Ilang dekada man ang lumipas, mahalagang patuloy nating balikan at unawain ang panahong ito bilang bahagi ng kasaysayan ng ating bansa.

Bilang mga mag-aaral ng Mapúa, may partikular na dahilan upang alalahanin si 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐬 “𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞” 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐣𝐚𝐧𝐨, isang 21-anyos na engineering student ng Mapúa Institute of Technology. Noong 1977, kinuwestiyon niya sa isang pampublikong forum ang pamumuno ni 𝐈𝐦𝐞𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐨𝐬 sa Kabataang Barangay; kalaunan, ang kanyang pagkamatay ay naging paksa ng mga kasong umabot sa mga korte sa Pilipinas at Estados Unidos.

𝐊𝐚𝐲𝐚 𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧 𝐝𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐚 𝐬𝐚 𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐚𝐥𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐤𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧. Hindi upang manatili lamang sa nakaraan, kundi upang maunawaan kung paano hinuhubog ng mga desisyon, institusyon, at paggamit ng kapangyarihan ang buhay ng mga tao. Ang pag-alala ay paraan ng pagkilala sa mga karanasang pinagdaanan ng mga nauna sa atin at ng pagpapanatiling buhay sa mga aral na iniwan nila.

Ngayong araw, alalahanin natin ang mga biktima at ang mga kuwentong naiwan nila. Patuloy nating pag-aralan ang ating kasaysayan nang may 𝐤𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐧, 𝐦𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐚𝐠-𝐢𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐩, at paggalang sa dignidad ng bawat Pilipino.

The University Student Government have formally submitted a request for consideration regarding the classes of students from the Makati and SEDA Campuses on September 21.

The Council of Organizations along with the Council of Presidents served as the assisting body in consolidating and compiling the concerns raised by students from the affected campuses. Through this collective effort, the Central Student Council initiated the formal communication and submitted the request via email to the administration, presenting the concerns and circumstances shared by the students.

The request was raised in response to the anticipated road closures and transportation disruptions, which may significantly affect students who need to travel to and from the Makati and SEDA Campuses. The councils recognize the importance of maintaining academic continuity; however, we also hope that the circumstances surrounding tomorrow’s transportation situation will be taken into consideration, particularly for students who may face difficulties or be unable to safely and reasonably access campus.

The University Student Government (USG) remains committed to representing the student body, amplifying student concerns, and working constructively with the administration to help address matters affecting the Mapúa community. We sincerely appreciate the students who took the time to raise their concerns and contribute to the compilation submitted for consideration.

IMPORTANT ADVISORY | Classes across all levels at the Intramuros and Malayan High School of Science campuses will shift to synchronous online modality on September 21, 2026 (Monday), in observance of the 54th Anniversary of the Declaration of Martial Law and in accordance with the Manila Mayor’s Office, as announced by Mapúa University.
