#𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙊𝙛𝙏𝙝𝙚𝘿𝙖𝙮: INSTITUTIONALISM

Institutionalism is a social science perspective that emphasizes the ways in which formal rules, informal norms, and collectively held cultural understandings influence and limit human behavior.

It focuses on international institution-building as a means by which states express or develop their common and overlapping interests.

Institutionalists seek to create or strengthen international law, regimes, and international organizations as means of addressing or resolving transnational issues.

They believe much conflict is unnecessary—because whether states cooperate or fight depends on how they define their interests, and those interests can go beyond one country's concerns.

Example:
The European Union stands as one of the most prominent examples of institutionalism. The EU is one of several attempts to bring Europe together after World War II. When the war ended, a number of western European nations sought closer economic, social, and political ties to achieve economic growth and military security.

What began as an economic cooperation project has expanded into deep collaboration across a wide range of policy areas. Member states signed treaties, adopted shared regulations, and built a culture of diplomacy and mutual benefit.

𝙎𝙒𝙄𝙎𝙎 𝙁𝙍𝘼𝙉𝘾 𝙎𝙃𝙄𝙁𝙏𝙎 𝘼𝙎 𝘿𝙊𝙇𝙇𝘼𝙍 𝙂𝘼𝙄𝙉𝙎 𝙂𝙍𝙊𝙐𝙉𝘿

The latest on the Swiss franc currency: as of September 21, 2026, the currency continues to move against the US dollar amid changes in global interest rate expectations.

According to recent international market the US$1 is currently trading around at around CHF 0.824, in other words one U.S. dollar is equivalent to 0.824 Swiss francs.

As a result of this, US goods might become more expensive for Swiss buyers. Products priced in US dollars such as commodities and imported goods could drive up prices when converted into Swiss francs. Aside from this, import-related inflation can also increase.

A weaker franc makes foreign goods more expensive, which can cause prices to rise and put more pressure on Switzerland’s economy.

As of September 21, one euro is equivalent to around 0.945 Swiss francs, while one British pound is around 1.10 Swiss francs. These exchange-rate movements can have an absolute impact on Switzerland’s market such as imports, exports and international trade.

Through insights from experts in governance and foreign affairs, let us engage in meaningful discussions and gain a more comprehensive understanding of how Philippine governance can shape the country’s global reputation and profile.
