UST Leaders Steer Regional Dialogue on AI and Digital Strategy at EDUtech Asia 2025
SINGAPORE – The University of Santo Tomas (UST) played a prominent role at the EDUtech Asia 2025 conference, as two of its key digital leaders moderated critical discussions that defined the future of education in the Asia Pacific region. The conference, held from November 4 to 6, focused on the timely theme: "Positive disruption: unlocking limitless potential in education with AI and tech."
Asst. Prof. Jerralyn Padua, Assistant to the Rector for ICT (ARiCT), and Asst. Prof. April Joy Gascon, Acting Director of the Educational Technology Center, showcased UST’s leadership in digital transformation. Their active participation, alongside other Filipino educators, firmly positioned the Philippines at the forefront of regional conversations concerning Artificial Intelligence (AI), equity, and future-ready skills in education.
Championing the Digital CIO at the Summit

At the EDUtech CIO Summit, she moderated a high-level panel with leaders from Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines. The discussion centered on how modern Chief Information Officers can effectively champion IT-driven change, navigate complex data and security challenges, and establish cohesive digital strategies for seamless student and staff experiences.
She further elevated the discussion at the main conference by leading the session "Elevating the Role of the CIO." This panel, featuring CIOs from leading institutions in Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore, focused intensely on the successful ex*****on of digital strategies, data security frameworks, and ensuring overall IT coherence.
Driving Success Through Collaboration
Asst. Prof. April Joy Gascon, representing the UST Educational Technology Center, facilitated a significant panel within the Digital Transformation stream.
Her session, "Cross-function collaboration to drive institutional success," addressed essential discussions on deliberate and strategic commitment to breaking down organizational walls, addressing organizational silos, and aligning diverse expertise and resources for accelerated innovation and holistic problem-solving to drive institutional success. The discussion provided valuable insights into fostering a genuinely student-centered learning environment and building a robust, cohesive digital infrastructure that aligns institutional efforts, technology resources, and core pedagogical goals.
Speakers on her panel included respected leaders from Nanyang Technological University, Ateneo de Manila University, INSEAD, and Newcastle University in Singapore.
