𝐈𝐂𝐘𝐌𝐈: Last July 23, 2026, the Universidad de Manila Office of the Vice President for Student Success and Support Services (OVPSSS), in collaboration with the College of Computing Studies (CCS) and various university offices, successfully conducted the 𝗖𝗖𝗦 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

Hosted by John Edward Roxas and Hilara Trinidad of the CCS-LSC, the orientation served as an introduction to university policies, student services, academic expectations, and opportunities available to incoming CCS students. It also provided the freshmen with valuable information to help them begin their academic journey at UDM.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the heads and representatives of the different university offices for sharing their time, knowledge, and guidance with our freshmen. We also thank our Dean, Mr. Francis Arlando L. Atienza, and the incoming CCS-LSC, headed by Al-Nur Dimakuta, for their support and contributions in making this event a success.

As a special welcome gift, the CCS freshmen also received exclusive lanyards. We likewise express our appreciation to outgoing CCS-LSC President Kartt Ivan R. Banaag and the Batch 2025 graduates whose generosity made this initiative possible.

The Universidad de Manila – College of Computing Studies conducted a Community Pantry today, July 21, 2026, as part of the University's initiative to foster service, generosity, and solidarity within the Merlion community.

More than 100 students were served during the event, enjoying the sweet biko and refreshing juice drinks prepared through the collective efforts of the CCS family. The initiative served not only as a means of providing food and refreshments but also as a reminder that even the simplest acts of kindness can create meaningful connections within the community.

The event was also graced by the presence of University administrators, including the Vice President for Comptrollership, Prof. Jeffrey Litan; the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Rejan Tadeo; and Ms. Laarni from the Office of the President.

The College extends its sincere gratitude to our Dean, Mr. Francis Arlando L. Atienza, Program Chair, Prof. Christina Pauig Atal, Mr. Selverino Galela, our full-time and part-time faculty members, and the incoming CCS Local Student Council for their unwavering support and contributions in making this event a success.

As a new academic year unfolds and a new generation of student leaders takes its place, let us pause to honor the unwavering dedication and service of the outgoing College of Computing Studies Local Student Council.

As the inaugural CCS-LSC following the College's transition from the College of Engineering and Technology (CET) to the College of Computing Studies (CCS), they did more than fulfill their duties, they helped lay the foundation of what it means to lead and serve the Tech Merlion community. They were the first to carry the torch of leadership for CCS, illuminating the path for those who will follow.

From overcoming unforeseen challenges to bringing meaningful programs, events, and initiatives to life, they have worked hand in hand to give their very best to the students they proudly served. Through every triumph and trial, they have proven that leadership is not merely a title to be held, but a responsibility to uplift, inspire, and create lasting change.
