The campus came alive once again as freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors stepped into their classrooms for the first day of face‑to‑face classes this academic year. From the excitement of meeting new friends to the challenges of navigating buildings and long commutes, every moment marked the start of another chapter in our journey as future educators.

As the governing body of English majors at NTC, we firmly believe in upholding the values of our institution, our program, and our calling as future educators. We do not tolerate actions that would jeopardize our department. 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗱, but it must always be addressed through proper channels. 𝗔𝗻𝗼𝗻𝘆𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 if one feels hesitant to reach out, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 to mock, attack, or argue with others.

The 𝗚𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗧𝗖 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 is open and free for concerns related to academics, professors, and even institutional matters. However, 𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 — just as we expect feedback to be constructive when given to our students.

As future educators, 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗻𝘀. We must not set a bad example by engaging in harmful online behavior. We teach language as a tool for empowerment, not as a weapon to attack others or fuel heated arguments. Whether you are still studying to be an educator or not, 𝘄𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽.

The 𝗡𝗧𝗖 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, strives to uphold values not only as English majors and future educators, but also as individuals who think critically before commenting or posting online.

Not every statement made in humor carries an actual intention to cause harm; however, 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁. A joke involving violence may be interpreted differently for people who encounter it — especially in a space where students, faculty, and staff should be able to learn, work, and engage without fear for their safety.

As students of the School of Teacher Education — and 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 — our responsibility extends beyond classrooms. The learning environments we hope to build one day must be grounded in 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆, 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁, 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆. We cannot advocate for safe and inclusive classrooms while overlooking conduct that undermines those same values within our own community now.

At the same time, we remind everyone that We encourage anyone who encounters content or behavior that may constitute a genuine threat or that raises reasonable safety concerns, to report it through the appropriate school authorities.

We acknowledge the fear, anxiety, and frustration that can arise when violence is invoked within a community. However, we also remind everyone that addressing such issues is 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗱𝗼𝘅𝘅𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹. Today, we commemorate the life and legacy of Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., whose courage and sacrifice became a turning point in our nation’s history. His assassination on August 21, 1983 ignited the spirit of unity that led to the EDSA People Power Revolution, restoring democracy to the Philippines.

As we observe this special non‑working holiday, let us remember Ninoy’s words and conviction: that “the Filipino is worth dying for.” May his life inspire us to safeguard freedom, strengthen our institutions, and deepen national unity.

𝗣𝗔𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗬𝗔 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲: 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻!

The 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗦𝗼𝗧𝗘) warmly welcomed its new allies last August 14 at the NTC Social Hall for the first session of 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘆𝗮 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲. 🏫💙

During the program, the new 𝗦𝗼𝗧𝗘 students from various majors—𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵, 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗼, 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻—were recognized and embraced. Core values, traditions, and responsibilities of being part of Inang Tanglaw were also shared, fostering a safe and inclusive community. 🫂✨

The event concluded with the 𝗕𝘂𝗸𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻 and 𝗞𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶 𝗣𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲, symbolizing unity and collective readiness to face this new chapter of their journey.
