The PAFT-Sigma Organization of the Department of Food Science participated in the 64th Annual Convention of the Philippine Association of Food Technologists, held Aug. 26-27 at Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria in Quezon City.
With the theme โ๐๐ช๐ฉ๐ช๐ง๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ฎ: ๐ผ๐๐ซ๐๐ฃ๐๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ค๐ค๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ฉ๐ฎ, ๐๐๐๐๐ฃ๐๐, ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ช๐จ๐ฉ๐๐๐ฃ๐๐๐๐ก๐๐ฉ๐ฎ,โ the two-day convention brought together professionals, educators, researchers, students and industry partners to exchange insights and discuss developments in food science and technology.
Representing PAFT-Sigma were ๐๐ข๐ซ๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐๐ง ๐. ๐๐ข๐ญ๐จ, ๐๐๐, ๐ ๐๐๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐๐ฆ๐๐๐ซ ๐จ๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ญ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐จ๐ ๐

๐จ๐จ๐ ๐๐๐๐ก๐ง๐จ๐ฅ๐จ๐ ๐ฒ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐๐ง๐ญ. Their participation provided the organization an opportunity to engage with professionals and gain a broader perspective on current standards and emerging trends in the food industry.
The convention featured technical sessions and presentations on current practices and issues affecting the food industry. Discussions focused on processing technologies, food safety, allergen management, sustainable production and quality assurance. Speakers highlighted the role of scientific data and technology in improving operational efficiency, food quality and safety, and environmental sustainability.
A key point emphasized throughout the convention was the need for the food industry to adapt to evolving technologies, consumer expectations and environmental concerns. Discussions also underscored the importance of maintaining effective food safety practices while improving processing methods and ensuring consistent product quality.
The sessions highlighted the growing responsibility of food technologists to help develop food systems that are efficient, innovative, safe and sustainable.
PAFT-Sigmaโs participation in the 64th PAFT Annual Convention reflects the organizationโs commitment to continuous learning, professional development and engagement with the food science and technology community. Through such opportunities, the organization aims to strengthen its membersโ knowledge and skills and prepare them to become competent food technologists who uphold food safety, scientific practice and sustainability.
Furthermore, Ms. Vito and Ms. Sinoy is grateful to Central Mindanao University (CMU), the Department of Food Science, and the PAFT-Sigma Organization for their support and encouragement, which made this participation possible. Through their support, the representatives were able to take part in the convention, learn from professionals in the field, and gain new insights into the current practices and developments in food science and technology. These learnings will be valuable in sharing new ideas within the organization and in further developing the knowledge and skills of its members. Moving forward, PAFT-Sigma hopes to continue participating in similar activities that promote learning, collaboration, and professional growth.
