๐˜‰. ๐˜ง๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ค๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ง๐˜ฐ๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ข was discovered in a secondary forest on a coastal mountain in Barangay Mabua, Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, Philippines. This species differs from all other Philippine members of section ๐˜‰๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜บ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ๐˜ณ๐˜ข primarily in its falcate leaf blades, from which the specific epithet โ€˜๐˜ง๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ค๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ง๐˜ฐ๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ขโ€™ is derived. Unfortunately, given its restriction to a single known locality, small population of approximately 30 mature individuals, and constant exposure to anthropogenic threats, we designate ๐˜‰. ๐˜ง๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ค๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ง๐˜ฐ๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ข as ๐‚๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐œ๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐„๐ง๐๐š๐ง๐ ๐ž๐ซ๐ž๐ (๐‚๐‘).

This discovery increases the number of Begonia species recorded in Surigao del Norte Province to eight and represents the fourth member of section Baryandra documented from the province. A key to all species in Surigao del Norte province is provided in the paper.
