โ€‹Delegates from Mindanao State Universityโ€“Marawi Campusโ€”including Vice Chancellor for Research, Extension, and Development Dr. Annie Mae C. Berowa, Internationalization Director Prof. Almahdi Alonto, Research Director Dr. Mahid Mangotarum, and CHTM Dean Prof. Ainnie M. Gangco, MSHMโ€”visited Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) on August 18, 2026, for a productive engagement focused on strengthening the institutionsโ€™ continuing partnership and exploring new areas for collaboration.

โ€‹The visit began with a general meeting with TAR UMT officials, including Vice President for Administration and Internationalization Prof. Dr. Say Sok Kwan, Vice President for Research, Development, and Commercialization Prof. Dr. Chui Fong Loke, Director for the Center for Business Incubation and Entrepreneurial Ventures Prof. Dr. Lim Tong Ming, and Director for the Department of International Student Office Ooi Hwee Jin. Discussions centered on revisiting the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), updates on current research and academic collaborative initiatives, the possible expansion of the partnership, benchmarking best institutional practices, and plans for future collaborations. The meeting provided an opportunity for both institutions to exchange insights and identify areas where their respective strengths and expertise can complement each other.

โ€‹In the afternoon, the MSU-Marawi delegation was given a campus tour, providing a closer look at TAR UMTโ€™s facilities, learning environments, and academic infrastructure.

โ€‹The visit continued with separate meetings with the Faculty of Engineering and Technology and the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities. These discussions explored potential areas of collaboration, including academic programs, research, faculty and student mobility, knowledge exchange, capacity building, and other initiatives designed to further strengthen institutional ties.

โ€‹This engagement underscores MSU-Marawiโ€™s commitment to expanding international research and academic partnerships and creating meaningful opportunities for its faculty, students, researchers, and academic units. As both institutions look toward future collaborations, the visit marks another step toward building a stronger network of academic partnerships and advancing shared goals in education, research, innovation, and internationalization.
