We are pleased to announce the official roster of presenters for the upcoming Graduate Research Seminar (GRS) of the King Faisal Center for Islamic, Arabic, and Asian Studies.
The event will be held on December 02, 2025, at the Al-Farouqi Center, KFCIAAS, MSU Marawi City.

The GRS is an open research defense where master’s students present their partial or completed thesis and dissertation as part of their preparation for the final oral defense. This activity aims to strengthen academic excellence, critical inquiry, and scholarly confidence among our graduate students.

The Mindanao State University System enters a new era of academic leadership with the designation of Dr. Minerva-Saminah M. Naga, as the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) of the MSU System, serving concurrently as the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (VCAA) of MSU Main Campus–Marawi.

A scholar, a strategist, and a faculty champion — Dr. Naga steps into the role at a time when academic institutions are navigating rapid change: digital transformation, outcome-based education, internationalization, and the growing demand for community-impact projects that respond to the needs of Mindanao and the Bangsamoro.

Her appointment signifies both continuity and innovation. It honors the strong foundation built by previous academic leaders while ushering in a future-ready direction grounded in data, mentorship, and meaningful learning.

Learning must go beyond theories in the classroom. Through partnerships with industry, LGUs, ministries (including BARMM), and local communities, she ensures that students experience learning with purpose and impact.

Dr. Naga’s ascent to VPAA is deeply connected to her years of mentorship under Dr. Alma E. Berowa, who served as VPAA of the MSU System and strengthened academic rigor, inclusivity, and system coherence across campuses.

Dr. Berowa did not only build programs – she worked silently and helped strengthened people, build institutions, and empowered communities.

For over a decade, she mentored Dr. Naga through roles where leadership and management skills were sharpened:
•guiding her as she served in USAPP and USCC,
•trusting her as Special Assistant to the VPAA from 2012–2015,
•and later supporting her as Director of the MSU Marawi Office of Admissions for six years and as Dean of the College of Education for three years.

The representatives of the King Faisal Center for Islamic, Arabic, and Asian Studies (KFCIAAS) for Extemporaneous Speaking, Declamation, and Aktwal na Talumpati were all hailed as 2nd Runners-Up in the recently concluded University-wide Literary Competition Final Rounds for "Sagayan 2025", held yesterday, October 15, 2025, at the International Convention Center (ICC).

Abdul Yusoph Batao, the Vanguard of Extemporaneous Speaking, delivered a compelling speech on the importance of speaking up, demanding accountability, and standing against anomalies, oppression, and corruption. His persuasive delivery and firm conviction earned him a well-deserved spot among the top performers.

Dorothy Eloise Bernadoz, the Vanguard of Declamation, embodied the Dakilang Pamantasan in her emotional and heartfelt performance. Her sincerity, courage, and impassioned pleas captivated the audience, securing her a place in the Top 3.

Precious Insanahusniah Amerol Macapaar, the Vanguard of Aktwal na Talumpati, used her voice to call upon the youth to be catalysts for change amidst the challenges of greed, corruption, nepotism, and injustice. Her outstanding performance earned her the 2nd Runner-Up title.

Indeed, Batao, Bernadoz, and Macapaar showcased not only their intellect and artistry but also the pride and spirit of a King’s Vanguard — resilient, skillful, determined, and passionate. Though they may not have brought home the crown, they have undeniably won the proud hearts of the King Faisal Center.
