True to its commitment as the Director of the University Extension Services Center, Prof. Melencio Jr Jalova, graced the Strat Planning event of the Philosophy Department. The 2nd day of the planning became more productive with his presence, passionately assuring us of the University’s support for our extension program’s progress. He shared some ideas on how our Care Community can give impact to Lanao del Sur province, specifically on the potency of Environmental Ethics for environmental Meranaw workers and advocates, altogether with our Philosophy with Meranaw Children in partnership with Marawi DepEd.

The Department’s Extension Services project leader Dr. Godiva Eviota Rivera presented an analysis of the future of philosophy’s extension program.

A RIGHT START| The Philosophy Department successfully conducted a 2-day Strategic Planning for A.Y. 2025-2027. Attended by its faculty members, a representative from its alumni, the head of SOPHIA (philo student org), Director of the University’s Extension Services, and a stakeholder, the Department planned to prioritize the following action plans:
1. Revision of BA Philo Curriculum
2. Research Publication and Presentation of Faculty and Students
3. Sustainability, Expansion, and Patent of its Extension Program
4. Publication of a Department Services Manual
5. Improvement of e-Library
6. New Edition of Ethics Manual and Logic Workbook
7. Stronger ties with its Alumni and Colleagues in the Discipline

Prof. Efren Jone Oledan, the department chair, gave his full commitment to turn into concrete terms these projects.

With a hight spirit, the Department welcomed anew all first year students and shifters; and back the old students to their Philosophy family! With greater hopes, we pray for a more fruitful semesters!

Please be informed that tomorrow, August 19, 2026, is declared a holiday in observance of Marawi Charter Day. The holiday commemorates the 86th Marawi City Charter Day and marks the opening of the week-long “Araw ng Marawi” celebration, running from August 19–23, 2026.

Accordingly, while regular work and classes are suspended tomorrow, all scheduled activities and preparations related to the upcoming Foundation Day shall continue as planned. Offices, committees, and personnel involved are advised to proceed with their respective activities, assignments, coordination, and other necessary preparations in accordance with the established schedules and timelines.
