MSU Strengthens Global Impact Readiness through THE Sustainable Impact Ratings Workshop 🌍📊

Mindanao State University (MSU), through its Quality Assurance Office, successfully organized the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainable Impact Ratings Technical Workshop on August 6–7, 2026, at the CHTM Pavilion, MSU Main Campus. The two-day activity reinforced the University’s commitment to quality assurance, institutional excellence, and global engagement by strengthening its readiness for the THE Impact Rankings, which evaluate universities based on their contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).

The workshop featured technical sessions led by Dr. Gaudencio C. Petalcorin, Jr., University Focal Person for Global Reputation, who discussed the THE Impact Rankings framework, SDG indicators, data collection, validation processes, and strategic reporting. Through interactive discussions and hands-on workshops, participants gained a deeper understanding of documenting institutional initiatives that reflect MSU’s impact in education, research, extension, environmental sustainability, and inclusive governance.

Representing the Institutional Research and Evaluation Office (IREO) were Director Dr. Wardah D. Guimba, together with IREO Staff Adliah M. Aniego and Hanifah A. Batara. Their participation highlights IREO’s continuing role in strengthening institutional research, performance evaluation, data governance, and evidence-based reporting in support of MSU’s quality assurance and global benchmarking efforts.

As the lead organizer, MSU, through its Quality Assurance Office, reaffirmed its commitment to integrating the UN SDGs across its core functions. By enhancing institutional capacity for impact measurement and international benchmarking, MSU continues to position itself as an inclusive, innovative, and globally engaged university dedicated to excellence and meaningful contribution to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Committed to Institutional Excellence and Sustainable Development!

As part of Mindanao State University's commitment to strengthening institutional quality and operational excellence, the University organized a two-day Quality Management Systems and Internal Audit Training for its personnel.

Representing the Institutional Research and Evaluation Office (IREO), Director Dr. Wardah D. Guimba and IREO Staff Farhaanah Muneerah D. Ronsing actively participated in the training, which covered ISO 9001:2015, ISO 21001:2025, and internal auditing standards. The program enhanced participants' knowledge and competencies in quality assurance, effective governance, and continuous improvement.

This initiative reflects Mindanao State University's dedication to advancing institutional excellence and supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.

IREO and Young Researchers Club Continue Their Capability-Building Journey Through Training-Workshop Series 1.

As part of its continuing capability-building program, the Institutional Research and Evaluation Office (IREO), in collaboration with the Young Researchers Club (YRC), and under the leadership of Director Dr. Wardah D. Guimba, successfully conducted the Capability-Building Training-Workshop Series I on July 22, 2026.

The training featured Prof. Alia I. Pacasirang as the resource speaker, who delivered an informative session on institutional research frameworks, data analytics, and research opportunities for evidence-based institutional development. Through engaging lectures and interactive workshop activities, participants strengthened their competencies in applying institutional research to strategic planning, policy formulation, and data-driven decision-making.

The activity further demonstrated the strong collaboration between IREO and YRC in advancing research excellence, fostering innovation, and promoting continuous professional development, reaffirming their shared commitment to cultivating a culture of evidence-based institutional growth and academic excellence at Mindanao State University–Marawi.

IREO and YRC Continue to Strengthen Data Management Competencies Through the "Data Management and Consolidation Boot Camp"

Under the visionary leadership and steadfast commitment of Dr. Wardah D. Guimba, Director of the Institutional Research and Evaluation Office (IREO), the Institutional Research and Evaluation Office (IREO), in collaboration with the Young Researchers Club (YRC), successfully continued its Capability-Building Training-Workshop Series I entitled "Data Management and Consolidation Boot Camp" on July 15–16, 2026, at the ICTC Building, Mindanao State University–Marawi City.

Guided by Dr. Guimba's vision of cultivating a data-driven and research-oriented academic community, the two-day workshop enhanced participants' competencies in data management, validation, analysis, and consolidation through expert-led lectures and hands-on learning activities.

On Day 1, Ms. Sayyedatel Janna M. Gubat delivered sessions on Basic Excel and Data Entry, Control Validation and Table Management, and Data Cleansing, Advanced Excel, and Dashboard Creation, providing participants with practical tools for efficient data processing, monitoring, and reporting. The learning experience was further enriched through a workshop exercise facilitated by Ms. Azimah D. Ampuan, where participants applied the concepts discussed through guided, hands-on activities.

On Day 2, Ms. Nornina J. Dia facilitated sessions on Power Query and Data Consolidation, Data Governance, and Team Workflow, equipping participants with practical strategies for automating data processes, integrating datasets, and strengthening collaborative data management practices.

The activity concluded with an interactive workshop and open forum, reinforcing the shared commitment of IREO and YRC to advancing data literacy, promoting evidence-based decision-making, and fostering a culture of research and institutional excellence.

This initiative reflects the continuing efforts of Dr. Wardah D. Guimba to strengthen institutional capacity through continuous professional development, research excellence, and innovation in data management. Through initiatives such as this, IREO remains committed to empowering university personnel with the knowledge and skills necessary to support informed planning, quality assurance, and evidence-based governance.
