Last June 8, 2026, the Supreme Student Government (SSG) paid a courtesy visit to the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA) and appealed for the inclusion of the parents of non-Latin awardees in the Pre-Commencement Exercises, recognizing their invaluable sacrifices, unwavering support, and contributions to their children's academic journey.
Today, we were informed that our appeal was unsuccessful, as it was announced that parents of non-Latin awardees, will not be allowed on stage during the ceremony.
We respectfully appeal for the reconsideration of this decision. During the 61st Commencement Exercises, our appeal on this matter was granted. Since it was successfully implemented before, we hope that the University Administration may once again give this request due consideration and uphold its commitment to its students, inclusivity, and the honor and recognition of all students.
The SSG reaffirms its commitment to continuously represent the interests and welfare of the student body through constructive dialogue, ensuring that students' concerns are heard and meaningfully addressed.
