More Than a Conference, It Became a Story Worth Remembering
August 5–6, 2026 | Provincial Social Hall, New Capitol Complex, Marawi City
For two meaningful days, Marawi City became the meeting place of civil engineers from across the country as the PICE Lanao del Sur Chapter proudly hosted the 3rd BARMM Regional Technical Conference.
Delegates from the chapters of Lanao del Norte, Maguindanao, Zamboanga, Cotabato, Tawi-Tawi, Sulu, Basilan, Sultan Kudarat, the City of Manila, Davao, Dapitan-Dipolog, Cebu, and of course, Lanao del Sur, gathered not only to earn CPD points or attend technical lectures, but to take part in an event that celebrated learning, service, culture, and professional fellowship.
The conference was honored by the presence of Engr. Nerie D. Bueno, Assistant Secretary of the DPWH and National President of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, who delivered an inspiring keynote address that challenged every engineer to continue leading with competence, integrity, and purpose.
Also gracing the occasion were Hon. Dr. Mamintal “Bombit” A. Adiong, Jr., Governor of Lanao del Sur and Chapter Adviser; Engr. Joseph Dominic S. Felizarta, National Vice President and Chair of the Regional Technical Conferences Committee; and National Board Directors Engr. Dimasira A. D. Macabando, Jr., Ph.D. and Engr. Soray’yah M. Ibrahim, whose presence and support added great significance to this regional gathering.
The conference was organized under the leadership of Engr. Labimombao A. D. Macabando, Ph.D., BARMM Regional Coordinator and PICE Lanao del Sur Chapter President RD Basir M. Ibrahim, their visions, dedications, and tireless efforts guided the planning and organization of this regional gathering. Their leadership were reflected in every detail and every milestone that made this conference possible.
But perhaps the conference will not be remembered only for the lectures delivered on stage.
It will be remembered because hundreds of engineers chose to travel—some for hours, others crossing seas and provinces—not because they were required to, but because they believed that gathering together still matters. In an age where almost everything can be attended online, they still chose to come, to listen, to learn, and most importantly, to be present. That alone made this gathering meaningful.
For many of our delegates, this was also their first visit to Marawi City. We sincerely hope they are bringing home more than conference kits, certificates, and photographs. We hope they are bringing home stories—stories of a city that welcomed them with warmth, of people who opened their doors with genuine hospitality, and of a chapter that did everything it could to make every guest feel at home.
What the audience saw on stage was only a small part of the conference. Behind every session, every registration desk, every meal served, every cultural presentation, every technical preparation, and every warm smile that greeted our guests was a team of officers, working committees, volunteers, and partners who quietly gave their time and hearts. Their names may not have been called one by one, but every delegate who went home smiling became a quiet testimony that all their efforts were worth it.
As the lights dimmed and the hall slowly emptied, what remained was more than the memory of another successful conference. What remained were new friendships, renewed inspiration, and the quiet reminder that no matter how far our chapters may be from one another, we all belong to one profession and one PICE family.
The 3rd BARMM Regional Technical Conference may have come to an end, but we hope its true legacy will live on—not only through the knowledge shared inside the hall, but through the friendships formed, the trust built, and the stories that every delegate carried home.
To everyone who became part of this journey—our National Officers, Regional Leaders, resource speakers, sponsors, partner agencies, delegates, working committees, volunteers, and supporters—thank you for helping us write a chapter that PICE Lanao del Sur will always be proud to remember.
You did not simply attend our conference; you became part of its story.
Until we meet again at the next BARMM Regional Technical Conference. In shaa Allah.
