A year in leadership is more than a measure of time โ it is a testament to commitment, service, vision, and the courage to transform challenges into opportunities.
As Dr. Ferdinand E. Romano, School Administrator of Wesleyan UniversityโPhilippines, Aurora, marks his first year in office this October 7, 2026 as the School Administrator, the occasion provides an opportunity to extend our warmest congratulations and recognize the meaningful strides achieved under his stewardship. His first year has been characterized by dedication to the institution, responsiveness to the academic community, and a continuing commitment to excellence.
Dr. Romanoโs leadership has been anchored on service, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. He recognizes that an academic institution thrives when administrators, faculty, staff, students, parents, alumni, and community partners work together toward a shared vision. Beyond administration, his leadership emphasizes an educational environment where academic excellence and character formation go hand-in-hand, preparing learners to become competent, responsible, resilient, and service-oriented members of the wider community.
His first year has likewise been marked by significant academic and institutional accomplishments. These include efforts to strengthen academic programs, improve school operations, enhance student services, promote faculty and staff development, and establish stronger external linkages. The University has celebrated notable academic achievements in all tertiary programs, including successful performances in the Certified Public Accountants Licensure Examination (CPALE), the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET), and the Licensure Examination for Criminologists (LEC). The College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) is also recognized by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) as a High Performing School in the LEC. The remarkable increase in enrollment for the BS Computer Science and BS Accountancy is also very evident. The Basic Education Department is likewise thriving excellently. These accomplishments reflect the collective dedication of the University's administrators, faculty, staff, and students.
Equally important has been the strengthening of WU-P Auroraโs relationship with the community. Through participation in local celebrations and activities, partnerships with government agencies and community organizations, and engagement with various sectors, the University continues to affirm its role as a responsible institution and partner in community development. Under Dr. Romanoโs leadership, the University has continued to reach beyond the classroom and strengthen its presence in Aurora, recognizing that education becomes more meaningful when it contributes to the welfare and development of the wider community.
Dr. Romanoโs first year has also underscored the value of people and teamwork in advancing the WU-P Aurora. Every accomplishment is made possible by faculty members who teach with passion, staff who serve with dedication, students who give life and purpose to the University, and stakeholders who continuously support our shared mission. While this milestone is an opportunity to look back with gratitude, it is also a moment to look ahead with renewed hope. The gains of the past year provide a strong foundation for addressing emerging challenges, pursuing new opportunities, and advancing further innovations in the years to come.
