I, [Your Name], am profoundly honored to formally mark a significant milestone in my journey as a student of nursing. Today, I proudly participated in the 28th Capping, Pinning, and Candle Lighting Ceremony at Southern Bicol Colleges 🕯️💉. This ceremony represents both the culmination of hard work and a solemn affirmation of the values, responsibility, and commitment required in the nursing profession 👩‍⚕️🤍

With my cap perfectly placed, my pin shining, and my candle glowing, I embraced this moment with gratitude, determination, and reverence. Each flicker of the candlelight symbolizes my promise to provide compassionate care, uphold the highest standards, and dedicate myself fully to serving others.

This milestone reflects countless hours of study, perseverance, and dedication. Every lecture attended, every skill practiced, and every challenge overcome has led to this day. It is a time to reflect on the journey, honor the guidance of mentors, the support of family and peers, and celebrate the commitment that will continue to guide me toward becoming a registered nurse 🩺🌟

As I continue this path, I carry with me the values of empathy, resilience, and professionalism. Today I celebrate, tomorrow I continue to serve, and always I will strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those I care for 🤍

The travel schedule had been planned well in advance. Before Typhoon Uwan was forecasted to make landfall in Sorsogon and Masbate, the two block sections from Masbate had already been scheduled to travel to Sorsogon, and two block sections from Sorsogon had been scheduled to travel to Masbate on Friday, November 7, 2025. This was two (2) days before the expected landfall on Sunday, November 9, 2025. The schedule was arranged to ensure that the students could travel safely ahead of any weather disturbances.

The students from Masbate City safely arrived in Pilar, Sorsogon together with a school staff member who accompanied them during their travel. However, the students scheduled for departure at 8:00 PM from Pilar to Masbate were unable to proceed due to the declaration of Signal No. 1 in the City of Sorsogon, which led the shipping lines to announce the suspension of all trips. This unexpected cancellation caused the students to be stranded during their travel. To ensure everyone’s safety, the school and the organization decided to bring the students back to their dormitories in Sorsogon immediately.

At their previous dormitories, the students were provided with a safe and comfortable place to stay, including free internet connection, free electricity, free water, free daily meals, and their other necessities. Despite the sudden change in plans, it is with great appreciation to the Philippine Nursing Students’ Association – Southern Bicol Colleges Chapter (PNSA-SBC), under the guidance of the PNSA Adviser, Ma’am Ailene O. Arcenas, who immediately took the initiative to provide these free daily meals for the stranded students using the organization’s own fund and resources.

The situation was unforeseen, yet every effort was made to ensure that no student felt neglected or unsafe. Through these events, the PNSA-SBC has demonstrated its dedication to the welfare and unity of nursing students. The organization continues to uphold its purpose of service, compassion, and integrity, guided by the support of the school.

On behalf of the entire organization, we sincerely thank everyone for their patience, understanding, and cooperation. Together, we continue to move forward with care, integrity, and unity, trusting in the Almighty’s guidance and grace to protect and strengthen us as we serve with compassion and understanding.

As Super Typhoon Uwan brings heavy rainfall and widespread flooding across the Bicol Region, the risk of Leptospirosis increases. This is a bacterial disease transmitted through floodwater contaminated with the urine of infected animals, commonly rats.

🚨 WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
Leptospirosis can enter the body through open wounds, cuts, or skin contact with contaminated water or soil.
Common symptoms appear 1–2 weeks after exposure and may include:
• Fever and chills
• Headache and muscle pain
• Red eyes
• Nausea or vomiting
• Abdominal pain and jaundice

👩‍⚕️ PREVENTION TIPS:
• Avoid wading in floodwaters as much as possible.
• Use protective boots or plastic barriers if contact with floodwater is unavoidable.
• Wash legs and feet thoroughly with clean water and soap after exposure.
• Seek immediate medical attention if symptoms develop after flood exposure.

Leptospirosis is preventable and treatable when recognized early. Let us stay vigilant, protect our health, and look after our communities because nurses care even beyond the storm. 🌧️💚

“UWAN” INTENSIFIES INTO A SUPER TYPHOON AS BICOL REGION BRACES FOR IMPACT.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) confirms that Super Typhoon “Uwan” (Fung-Wong) continues to intensify as it moves west northwestward across the Bicol Region, bringing life-threatening winds and heavy rainfall.

At 7:00 AM, the eye of Super Typhoon Uwan was located approximately 125 km East Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes, with maximum sustained winds of 185 km/h and gusts reaching up to 230 km/h.

⚠️ Areas under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals (TCWS):
• Signal No. 3 – includes Sorsogon, Ticao Island, and Burias Island.
• Signal No. 2 – in effect over the rest of Masbate Province.
Residents are advised to remain indoors, secure loose objects, and avoid coastal areas due to storm surges and very rough seas reaching up to 12 meters high.

🌧️ Heavy Rainfall & Flooding Alert:
Moderate to intense rains are expected across Sorsogon, Masbate, and the rest of Bicol Region, potentially causing flash floods and landslides in high-risk areas.

🌊 Coastal Threat:
Storm surges exceeding 3.0 meters may impact Sorsogon Bay, Albay Gulf, and Burias Pass, posing a severe threat to coastal communities. Sea travel is highly discouraged for all vessels.

As Super Typhoon Uwan nears its peak intensity, all local government units and disaster response teams in Sorsogon, Masbate, and the Bicol Region are urged to stay alert and implement preemptive safety measures.

📍Let us continue monitoring official bulletins from DOST-PAGASA and local authorities. Stay indoors, remain vigilant, and prioritize safety.
