| Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) joined the Provincial Government of Davao de Oro today, September 25, for the turnover of scientific studies conducted under the BD Corridor Project–Eastern Mindanao Biodiversity Corridor (EMBC), one of the highlights of the province’s Tourism Month 2026 celebration.

Among the outputs turned over was DOrSU’s scientific assessment of Mt. Tambuyong, which was later developed into a book by the Provincial Government through its Tourism Division. The study forms part of a broader body of research, including cave management plans, aimed at supporting biodiversity conservation, environmental management, sustainable tourism, and evidence-based destination planning.

DOrSU was represented by Amy G. Ponce, MSc, Project Leader of the DOrSU–EMBC Project, together with members of the project team. The University also received a Plaque of Recognition as a Contributing Partner in recognition of its role in advancing research and sustainable tourism initiatives in Davao de Oro.

| Davao Oriental State University celebrates the recognition received by its Main Campus and Extension Campuses for their outstanding performance in the September 2025 and March 2026 Board Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (BLEPT).
​
Certificates of Recognition were conferred by the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XI (CHED XI) and the Association of Region XI Teacher Education Institutions (ARTEI) during the ARTEI Learning and Development Forum cm General Assembly 2026 held on September 15 in Davao City.
​
The recognitions were given in acknowledgment of the campuses’ strong BLEPT performance both in the Elementary Education and Secondary Education programs. Across the two examination periods, DOrSU campuses posted high passing rates in their respective examinee categories, with the San Isidro and Cateel Campuses recording 100% passing rates.
​
The University extends its warmest congratulations and appreciation to the faculty members, mentors, administrators, graduates, and the entire teacher education community across the Main and Extension Campuses. Your dedication to quality instruction, student preparation, and the formation of future educators continues to bring honor to DOrSU.

| 𝗗𝗘𝗣𝗗𝗲𝘃 𝗫𝗜 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗗𝗢𝗿𝗦𝗨 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗣𝗿𝗜𝗠𝗘 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀

A Technical Working Group (TWG) from the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) Regional Office XI began field validation at Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) on September 24 for two projects shortlisted in the CY 2025 Search for Project Implementation and Monitoring Excellence in the Davao Region (DavPrIME) Awards.

The shortlisted entries are the Macro- and Micro-Plastic Pollution (M2P2) in Marine Ecosystems and Fisheries in Southeastern Mindanao, under Category A-2 (Best Government Non-Infrastructure Project), and the Finishing Works for the Newly Constructed Activity Center at Cateel Campus, under Category A-1 (Best Government Infrastructure Project).
​
Researchers involved in the M2P2 Research Program, led by Dr. Emily S. Antonio, joined the September 24 validation. The evaluating TWG was composed of Francesca Dianne B. Solis and Emil B. Clarito of DEPDev XI, and Engr. Charisse Kaye B. Alforque of DILG XI. The validation covers the projects’ implementation, monitoring, outcomes, sustainability, and other relevant aspects.

The University of the Philippines Mindanao (UP Mindanao) visited Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) on September 24 to benchmark on the University’s approach to disaster preparedness, emergency response, and safety management during major activities.
​
The benchmarking visit, initiated by the UP Mindanao Office of the Vice Chancellor for Administration, focused on DOrSU’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) structure, emergency protocols, response procedures, facilities, and incident management practices.
​
Vice Chancellor for Administration Leo Manuel B. Estaña led the UP Mindanao delegation, which included personnel involved in the university’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Incident Command System.

Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) is expanding its internationalization efforts by bringing global perspectives into instruction, research, community engagement, and student learning opportunities.

As part of its ASEAN 2026 celebration themed “Navigating Our Future, Together,” the University held an orientation on Internationalization in Instruction, Research, and Community Engagements today, September 24, at the University Boardroom.
​
The discussions centered on how DOrSU can deepen its engagement with the global academic community while remaining grounded in its regional identity and the needs of the communities it serves.

| In observance of the 34th National Family Week and “Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga” Day, Davao Oriental State University will implement a Work-from-Home arrangement for teaching and non-teaching personnel and asynchronous classes for all students across all campuses from 8:00 AM to 12:00 noon on 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.
​
Beginning 1:00 PM, work and classes shall be suspended, including face-to-face and synchronous online classes, pursuant to Memorandum Order No. 101, s. 2026.
​
Personnel assigned to essential services and those required for AACCUP accreditation activities shall follow the directives of their respective offices.

| 𝗗𝗢𝗿𝗦𝗨, 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

After years of collaboration, Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU), the Diocese of Mati, Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU), and other stakeholders moved to formalize a multisectoral coalition for ecological protection and sustainable development during a ratification workshop on Wednesday, September 23.
​
The proposed Coalition for Ecosystem-Based Sustainability (COEBS) seeks to bring together government agencies, academic institutions, civil society organizations, people’s organizations, Indigenous communities, faith-based groups, and other sectors to advance ecological protection through research, education, advocacy, and policy.
​
The Diocese of Mati, under Bishop Abel C. Apigo, DD, initiated the coalition through its fellowship and environmental initiatives, with DOrSU and AdDU involved in its early development. The institutions have since worked with other stakeholders to refine the coalition’s framework and proposed areas of action.
​
COEBS is envisioned as a multisectoral, rights-based, law-anchored, science-based, and solutions-oriented platform responding to environmental degradation and governance challenges in Davao Oriental and the wider region. Its guiding principles include environmental stewardship, justice and equity, scientific integrity, community empowerment, intergenerational fairness, transparency, cultural sensitivity, and inclusive participation.

| Davao Oriental State University joined 𝗞𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗢 𝗜𝗡𝗜: 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝗿, 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 on September 21, bringing local tourism, cultural heritage, and environmental awareness into classroom learning.
​
During the designated hour, students were introduced to some of Davao Oriental’s well-known destinations and heritage sites, including Mt. Hamiguitan, Subangan Museum, Pusan Point, and Aliwagwag Falls, using materials prepared by the Provincial Tourism Office.
​
The initiative also resonates with DOrSU’s continuing work in biodiversity and coastal conservation, ecotourism, heritage education, and community engagement—efforts that contribute to the protection and promotion of the province’s natural and cultural assets.
​
Held as part of the province’s Tourism Month celebration, KANATO INI encouraged learners to know Davao Oriental more closely and take part in preserving and sharing its stories.

Endorsed by the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges–Region XI (PASUC-XI), this five-day event will feature learning, research, and hands-on sports experiences through expert-led sessions, technical demonstrations, skills training, mini-tournaments, and a research congress. Participants will also get the opportunity to explore emerging and non-mainstream sports such as Disc Golf, Floorball, Roundnet, and FunEBall.
