In particular, concerns were raised regarding the evaluation of the application of the nominees as well as the unclear extension of the deadline of the nomination for the Handumanan Awards.
Serving as the highest representation of the CAS studentry, it is our duty to address these concerns, recognize our shortcomings, take genuine accountability, and improve internal structures to prevent the recurrence of these issues.
It is the mandate of the student council to address the concerns of its constitutions, recognize lapses, take accountability, and improve so that the same lapses will not recur in the future. With this, the UPV CAS Student Council apologizes for the lapses and oversight during the handling of the Handumanan Awards.

The council provided Mx. Fernandez a copy of the tabulation of the scores in the said category. Mx. Fernandez raised a concern in regards to his score in the criteria of Recommendation letters. Upon careful review once again, the Council determined the discrepancy in the score due to the oversight on the other recommendation letters submitted by the Mx. Fernandez. Due to the changes in the scores in the recommendation letter criteria, the recipient of the award for the Outstanding CAS Student in the Field of Technology and Mathematics was Mx. Shan Rencis Fernandez. The council immediately recognized this lapse and has informed both parties of the changes.
Moreover, the UPV CAS Student Council has also proactively coordinated with Mx. De Asis in regards with the clarification of the changes in the score and the result. The council has provided explanations as well as receipts detailing the incident to ensure transparency and accountability of the matter. This matter was not taken lightly and ensured that every step of the way was clarified and the concerns raised by Mx. De Asis was taken into consideration.
Hence, the UPV CAS SC offers its sincerest apologies to the aggrieved parties for the administrative oversight. It was never the intention of the UPV CAS SC to discredit the effort and the achievements made by the nominees. The UPV CAS SC fully acknowledges its lapses and accountability recognizing its own fault and how this has caused inconvenience to the parties and gravely affected the mental and emotional well being of the parties.

The UPV CAS SC, now more than ever, aims to provide accountability and transparency to its student body as part of its mandate. It continuously strives to learn from its lapses and provide mechanisms to ensure that such lapses will not happen again in the future.
With this, the UPV CAS SC suggests mechanisms verifying of its commitment to ensure that such incident won't happen again and maintain the integrity of CAS Handumanan Awards:
1. Clearer communication of instructions, details, and criteria.
2. Prompt and immediate release of extension of deadlines and other similar changes.
3. Double checked and thorough deliberation of the files submitted by the applicants.
Furthermore ensuring fairness and integrity in the deliberation process.
The UPV CAS SC remains grounded to proactively respond to the concerns of its constituents and be accountable and transparent at the same time. This will serve as a reflection and a learning ground as well to further improve its process and system to collectively celebrate the essence of Handumanan Awards and the values that it was built upon.
