John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo), Inc. proudly celebrates the remarkable achievement of Mdpn. Wency Wrenz O. Arellano of Polaris 3A, who has been named one of the Ten Outstanding Maritime Students of the Philippines (TOMSP) 2026 awardees, held at the APSU-ALU-ITF Building in Cubao, Quezon City.

With this prestigious recognition, Mdpn. Arellano proudly returns the name of JBLFMU (Arevalo) to the roster of TOMSP awardees after a seven-year hiatus, underscoring the excellence, leadership, and dedication that define a true Lacsonian.

Joining him in this momentous occasion were Mr. Robert O. Parcia, MMM, Administrator, JBLFMU Arevalo; 2/M Aldin Turija, International Relations Coordinator; and Ms. Majah Angelica Sapio, Student Activity Coordinator, whose guidance and support contributed to this milestone achievement.

After a careful evaluation by our panel of regional screeners, the TOSP Regional Executive Committee – Region VI proudly presents this year’s finalists. JBLFMU proudly formalized another milestone in its long-standing partnership with PACC Shipping Philippines, Inc. through the Beacon of Excellence Awarding Ceremony held today.

For 20 years, JBLFMU and PACC Shipping Philippines, Inc. have worked hand in hand in advancing maritime education and preparing future maritime professionals for success in the global shipping industry. Through the PACC Cadet Program, 475 JBLFMU cadets have successfully begun their maritime careers, transforming classroom knowledge into real-world experience at sea.

As a testament to this enduring and impactful partnership, Dr. Mary Lou Lacson, President Emeritus and Chairman of the Board of JBLFMU, together with CEO Dr. Ronald Raymond L. Sebastian, conferred the Beacon of Excellence Award upon PACC Shipping Philippines, Inc. Accepting the award on behalf of the company was our distinguished alumnus, Capt. Adrian Ludovice, President of PACC Shipping Philippines, Inc.

This recognition pays tribute to PACC's unwavering commitment to JBLFMU's mission of developing competent, globally competitive, and industry-ready maritime professionals. Through two decades of steadfast support, opportunities, and collaboration, PACC has played a vital role in shaping the careers of countless Lacsonian cadets while continuously strengthening the vital bridge between maritime education and the shipping industry.

The event was attended by the University's Unit Administrators, Executive Council Members, Unit Department Heads, Alumni Coordinators, and Placement/Scholarship Coordinators, highlighting the collective commitment to fostering excellence in maritime education.

John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (JBLFMU) proudly represented the Visayas after emerging as the winner in maritime research among maritime schools in the region.

Led by Dr. Brian Gil S. Sarinas, Research and CES Director, presented its award-winning research paper at the 2026 National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP) Research Forum held at Diamond Hotel, through the endorsement of the Philippine Association of Maritime Institutions (PAMI).

This remarkable achievement highlights JBLFMU’s commitment to excellence in maritime research, innovation, and knowledge creation, further strengthening its role in advancing the Philippine maritime education sector.
