The College of Home Science and Industry (CHSI) served rice porridge, vegetable buns, and rice coffee to the Central Luzon State University (CLSU) community following the Flag Raising Ceremony held on July 27, 2026, at the CLSU Auditorium.

The initiative forms part of the College's celebration of its 72nd Anniversary and the observance of Philippine Nutrition Month, highlighting CHSI's commitment to promoting healthy food choices, community engagement, and wellness among the University community.

Beyond serving as tokens of goodwill, the three food items reflect CHSI's growing body of research and extension work. The rice porridge is drawn from products the College has developed for calamity and disaster response, underscoring its role in food security. The vegetable buns demonstrate CHSI's continuing efforts in food value-adding, transforming raw agricultural produce into accessible, nutritious products. The rice coffee, meanwhile, is among the College's developing product lines derived from CLSU-generated technologies, illustrating how University research is translated into practical, marketable innovations.

Through this simple yet meaningful activity, CHSI reaffirms its role not only as a provider of quality education but as a College central to advancing food security, product innovation, and community wellness, upholding its enduring legacy of excellence in education, research, extension, and public service.

Central Luzon State University (CLSU), through the extension efforts of the College of Home Science and Industry (CHSI), signed a Memorandum of Agreement with seven partner institutions and community enterprises under the UNLAD PAMILYA Program, which aims to strengthen community livelihoods through food processing and value addition on July 21, 2026.

Under the agreement, CLSU will provide professional and technical assistance on food processing, culinary arts, handicraft production, entrepreneurship, marketing, and business planning. The University will also designate faculty experts, provide training facilities and necessary logistical support, and regularly monitor and evaluate the progress and outcomes of the livelihood initiatives. For an academic institution, the partnership will cover capability building in academic and research areas for its students and faculty.

The partner-beneficiaries are Divina Pastora College (Gapan City), Community Visions and Initiatives of Nueva Ecija Guimba, Nueva Ecija), Carranglan Multi-purpose Producers Cooperative, Hacienda T&C Food Processing (San Antonio, Nueva Ecija), K-D Nature Farm (Rizal, Nueva Ecija), Greenfields Christian Farmer Agriculture Cooperative (Munoz), and Department of Agriculture - Philippine Rice Research Institute through its partner Pinagbuklod na Adhikain Multi-purpose Cooperative.
