Adrian C. Dela Cruz, a Master of Science in Aquaculture student, participated in the 5th International Conference on Integrated Natural Resources and Environment Management (INREM 2025) from November 18 to 20, 2025, at Acacia Hotel in Alabang, Manila. This year's event focused on the theme

The study was co-authored by a team that included: Dr. Lorenz J. Fajardo, Dr. Alvin T. Reyes, Mr. Ricardo A. De Guzman, Ms. Marjorie M. Ramirez, Ms. Maureen G. Tamayo, Ms. Danielle Clarisse G. Gonzales, Mr. Ace S. Aguillo, Mr. Reniel R. Dandan, Ms. Cheryl Grace Hoggang, Mr. Eddieboy T. Jimenez, Ms. Ave Joy C. Ramos, Asst. Prof. Junard A. Catabay, Mr. Aries Paul D. Padron, Ms. Cherry Ann G. Kindipan, Asst. Prof. Lara Millen S. Pengson, Prof. Janet O. Saturno, Dr. Hazel Monica M. Peralta, Dr. Emmanuel M. Vera Cruz, Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, and Dr. Karl Marx A. Quiazon.
Their research emphasizes the need for seasonal water quality monitoring and sustainable management strategies that support the resilience of small-scale aquaculture, especially in protected water bodies like MSPL.
INREM 2025 maintains its reputation as a leading event that encourages collaboration among experts and practitioners in natural resources and environmental management. This yearโs conference included plenary and parallel sessions, poster presentations, and student research sessions, along with various side events aimed at strengthening the connection between science, policy, and community.
Notably, INREM 2025 is a historic milestone as the first carbon-neutral international conference in the Philippines. It serves as a model Nature-based Solutions (NbS) initiative that promotes ecosystem-based resilience and sustainable development. The event brought together scientists, early-career researchers, policymakers, practitioners, students, and stakeholders from state universities, national government agencies, local government units, research institutions, civil society organizations, and the private sector.
Dela Cruzโs involvement highlights the increasing influence of young researchers in promoting climate-resilient aquaculture and advancing sustainability efforts across the nation.
