On February 13, 2026, the Department of Textile and Garment Technology (DTGT) continued Day 3 of its visit to various weaving communities in La Union.

The departmentโ€™s final stop was at De Castroโ€™s Loom Weaving, where the group was warmly welcomed by third-generation weaving heir Ferdinand De Castro and his wife, Perlita Manongdo.

The visit sought to deepen the faculty membersโ€™ understanding of weaving techniques, production processes, and industry practices. By learning directly from skilled artisans, the faculty strengthened their expertise and gained valuable insights to bring back to the classroomโ€”ensuring that the knowledge they share with students remains relevant, authentic, and firmly rooted in real community traditions.

On February 12, 2026, DAY 2 of the Department of Textile and Garment Technology (DTGT) visit in various weaving communities in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.

DTGTโ€™s first stopped was at Rowildaโ€™s Loom Weaving, where they were welcomed by third-generation weaver Dominico Panela, who continues their familyโ€™s weaving legacy.

They then visited Pagabelan ni Tinay and were warmly received by third-generation weaver Agustina Q. Quitoriano, carrying forward the tradition with dedication and pride.

It was an opportunity to learn directly from the artisans and ensure that lessons taught to students remain relevant, authentic, and grounded in real community practices.
