𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗽𝗼𝘅
The University Infirmary has noted possible cases of chickenpox (varicella) or bulutong-tubig in the community. Chickenpox is a contagious viral illness that spreads easily through airborne droplets, coughing, sneezing, or direct contact with skin rashes.
To protect everyone’s health and safety, all students and employees are advised to follow the guidelines below:
COMMON SYMPTOMS
Watch for the following signs:
• Mild fever
• Headache or body malaise
• Loss of appetite
• For 3-5 days, observe classic symptoms of chickenpox (Red itchy spots that turn into fluid-filled blisters, usually starting on the face, chest, or back.
STUDENTS WITH SYMPTOMS ARE ADVISED NOT TO ATTEND THEIR CLASSES.
Immediately:
1 Inform your instructor/adviser/supervisor.
2 Stay at home or in your residence/isolation area
3 Consult a physician (clinic/teleconsultation)
4 Fill out the Google Form provided by the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPAA) for monitoring and academic consideration purposes

You may return to the University ONLY AFTER all lesions have dried and crusted (after 14 days) and upon medical clearance from the University Infirmary.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO WHILE RECOVERING
• Rest and drink plenty of fluids
• Avoid scratching the blisters to prevent infection and scarring
• Keep nails short and clean
• Take prescribed medicines only
• Avoid contact with pregnant women, infants, the elderly, and immunocompromised persons
• Do not share towels, clothes, utensils, pillows, or bedding
FOR CLOSE CONTACT PERSONS
If you have been exposed to a confirmed case:
• Monitor symptoms for 3-5 days.
• Wear a mask in enclosed spaces
• Practice frequent handwashing
• Use hand sanitizer or alcohol
• Seek medical advice if you are unvaccinated or immunocompromised
PREVENTION
• Vaccination is the best protection
• Maintain good hygiene
• Avoid close contact with infected persons
