Health & Safety Office:
PRC HEAT ALERT: Danger Level Heat Forecast for Several Provinces. Are you prepared?
According to the latest forecast from DOST-PAGASA, several areas across the Philippines will experience "DANGER" level heat indices over the next few days.
On April 21, Cavite City is projected to hit a scorching 43°C.
Other areas, including Dagupan City, San Jose (Mindoro), Iloilo City, Tacloban City, Aparri, and Metro Manila, are also facing very high temperatures ranging from 38°C to 41°C.
Prolonged exposure to these temperatures increases the risk of heat exhaustion and heatstroke.
Here is what you MUST do to stay safe:
HYDRATE: Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty. Avoid sugary drinks and caffeine.
STAY INDOORS: If possible, remain indoors or in the shade, especially during the peak sun hours of 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
DRESS LIGHT: Wear lightweight, light-colored, and loose-fitting clothing.
KNOW THE SIGNS: Watch out for heat exhaustion (heavy sweating, weakness, cold/pale/clammy skin) and heatstroke (high body temp, hot/red skin, rapid pulse, confusion). If heatstroke is suspected, call for emergency medical help immediately.
Let's look out for our elderly neighbors, children, and pets. They are more vulnerable to heat.
