‎Fifty-four years later, we remember Martial Law not simply as a chapter in our history, but as a painful reminder of what happens when freedom is taken away and voices are silenced. We remember the Filipino people who endured, resisted, and sacrificed for the freedom and democracy that we have today. Their stories are more than memories of the past; they are reminders of the rights we must never take for granted.

‎In a time when so much is happening in our government and in our country, may we continue to question, seek the truth, and hold those in power accountable. 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗮𝗽𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗼𝘁. May we never allow indifference to silence the lessons that history has taught us.

‎As the youth and as Filipino citizens, we have voices that matter. May we use them not only when it is convenient, but especially when it matters most. 𝗟𝗲𝘁 𝘂𝘀 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲. ‎question for some, but for someone who may be going through a difficult time, it can mean a lot. Sometimes, knowing that someone noticed, cares, and is willing to listen can make us feel a little less alone.

‎𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 10 𝗶𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆. Let this be a reminder for us to check on the people around us, to listen without judgment, and to remind them that they matter. The Unified Student Association of Human Services extends its warmest congratulations to our very own 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿, 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮 𝗟𝗼𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗗. 𝗡𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮, who was elected as the 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗿, and to one of our Human Services students, 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗢. 𝗣𝗮𝗽𝗮, who was elected as 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗴𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗹𝘂𝗻𝗴𝘀𝗼𝗱 in their town.

These two individuals prove to us that 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗴𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆. They lead in school, and so do they in their community. May their journey inspire all of us to keep chasing our dreams, believe in our purpose, and go for the things that we truly deserve. Congratulations, 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀! May the desire in your hearts to serve never stop.
