𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 | The Research and Development Services Office (RDSO) proudly congratulates Engr. Edna P. Montañez and Dr. Edesa R. Saclag on the successful publication of their research studies, “Challenges of Students in the Era of Academic Disruption: The Case of a College in the Philippines” and “Fitness and Recreational Activities of Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges Employees in the Philippines,” respectively, in the International Journal of Educational Sciences (IJES), a Web of Science-indexed journal.

Engr. Montañez’s study examined the challenges encountered by college students during the transition to flexible and online learning, highlighting issues related to technology access, workload, instructional delivery, and student motivation. Meanwhile, Dr. Saclag’s research explored the fitness and recreational activities of CSPC employees, emphasizing the benefits of physical activity on employees’ physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being, as well as the importance of institutional support for workplace wellness.

This achievement reflects the dedication of our faculty researchers and reinforces CSPC’s commitment to meaningful and impactful research.

𝐂𝐀𝐒 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐏𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥

Dr. Marlon S. Pontillas, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) of Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC), recently published a research paper titled “Awareness and Engagement of Arts and Sciences Students in Campus Publication: A Case of a Philippine State College” in the Lux Veritatis Journal of the University of Santo Tomas-Legazpi. The study was co-authored with Karla Mae N. Sirios, MBA, and Marc Paul C. Sallao, LPT, both faculty members of the College of Arts and Sciences.

The research examined the levels of awareness and engagement of students toward TheSPARK, the official campus publication of CSPC, using a convergent parallel mixed-methods design.

The findings revealed significant differences in students’ perception, awareness, participation, and engagement across academic programs, highlighting the important role of institutional support and curriculum integration in strengthening campus journalism involvement among students.

The publication contributes to the growing body of research on student engagement and campus media in Philippine higher education institutions, particularly in the Bicol Region.

It also underscores the commitment of CSPC-CAS faculty members to advancing research productivity and scholarly engagement aligned with the institution’s vision for academic excellence.

𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 | The Research and Development Services Office (RDSO) proudly congratulates Ervin M. Taburnal, Maria Visitacion M. Taburnal, and Sheena Carolyn S. Sedeño for the successful publication of their research titled “Perioperative Preparedness of Nursing Students of Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, Philippines” in the International Journal of Educational Sciences (IJES), a Web of Science-indexed journal.

The study assessed nursing students' perioperative preparedness, focusing on their knowledge, skills, and readiness to participate in perioperative nursing care. It examined key factors influencing students’ preparedness and identified areas for enhancement in nursing education and clinical training. The findings provide valuable insights for strengthening nursing curricula and improving students’ competencies in perioperative settings, ultimately contributing to quality patient care and better healthcare outcomes.

𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 | The Research and Development Services Office (RDSO) extends its warmest congratulations to our Director, Dr. Harold Jan R. Terano, for the successful publication of his research study, “Examining the Correlation between Mathematical Resilience, Achievement Goals, and Mathematics Performance of Engineering Students” in the International Journal of Engineering Pedagogy (iJEP), a Scopus Q2 and Web of Science-indexed journal.

The study explored the relationship between mathematical resilience, achievement goals, and the mathematics performance of engineering students. Through the participation of engineering students from Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, the research examined how resilience and students’ achievement goals influence academic performance in mathematics. Findings revealed significant insights into the role of perseverance, growth mindset, and academic motivation in shaping students’ learning experiences and performance outcomes. The study further emphasizes the importance of institutional support and educational strategies that foster resilience and promote student success in engineering education.

This publication reflects CSPC’s continuing commitment to research excellence, innovation, and quality education. Benitez together with co-authors Karl Raphael Briñas, John Paul Relativo, Rica Mae Bisenio, and Nestor Jose Awa for the successful publication of their research paper, “Evolutionary Motor Command Optimization and Fuzzy-based Turn Correction for Arduino Obstacle Avoidance Robots,” in IEEE Xplore, a Scopus-indexed journal.

The study explored innovative approaches to improve the movement efficiency and turning accuracy of Arduino-based obstacle-avoidance robots. Through the integration of evolutionary motor command optimization and fuzzy-based turn correction, the research contributes to the advancement of more adaptive, responsive, and intelligent robotic systems suitable for dynamic environments.

This achievement highlights the dedication of both faculty researchers and student innovators to advancing research excellence, technological innovation, and global academic engagement. It also reflects the institution’s continuing commitment to producing impactful research that contributes to the growing field of intelligent systems and robotics.

Llagas, MIT, for the successful presentation of her research titled, “Analysis of Senior High School Students' ICT Literacy: Basis for the Development of a Skills Training Program,” during the 7th International Virtual Conference on Interdisciplinary Research in Higher Education 2026, held on May 14–16 via Zoom Video Teleconferencing. The conference was hosted by the International Association of Scholarly Publishers, Editors and Reviewers, Inc., in partnership with the University of Bohol.

Noga as co-author for the successful publication of their research titled “Academic Resilience Among Business Students in Higher Education Institutions” in the International Journal of Educational Sciences (IJES), a Web of Science-indexed journal.

The study explored the academic resilience of business students in higher education institutions, focusing on dimensions such as confidence, social support, adaptability, and purposefulness. It also examined the relationship between academic resilience and selected personal and socio-economic characteristics, highlighting the students’ ability to persist and succeed despite challenges. The findings served as the basis for proposing a multi-modal learning continuity plan to further strengthen academic resilience among business students.
