As future lawyers, we are called not only to advocate for people, but also to defend those who cannot speak for themselves. Guided by this principle, the University of Nueva Caceres School of Law, in collaboration with the UNC Law School Board, the UNC Pre-Law Society, and StreetPaws Naga, proudly presents a learning event centered on the protection and humane treatment of animals under the law.
This webinar will delve into the core provisions of the Animal Welfare Act, including:
🔹 Legal standards on responsible care and humane treatment of animals
🔹 Penalties and criminal liabilities for acts of cruelty and neglect
🔹 Guidelines affecting pet owners, veterinarians, LGUs, and animal welfare organizations
🔹 The role of communities and youth advocates in advancing animal rights
Through this discussion, we aim to bridge legal knowledge and social responsibility, empowering law students and public advocates to understand how legislation can protect the vulnerable and shape a more compassionate society. We believe that justice should extend beyond humans, even the smallest paw deserves a voice.
