Breaking Barriers for a Healthier Bicol! 🌈🧠

Empowering Bicolanos through HIV Awareness & Mental Health Education because awareness saves lives and inclusion matters. 💜

On Sept 5, 2025 at Brgy. Milaor, people came together for an inspiring day of learning, sharing, and advocacy as the HIV Awareness & Mental Health Caravan made its stop in the community.

This meaningful event was made possible through the joint efforts of the Psychological Association of the Philippines – Bicol Chapter, the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines (FPOP), Sustained Health Initiative of the Philippines (SHIP), LGU Milaor, Sarong Bangui Eagles Club and Sarong Bangui Lady Eagles Club. With the theme “Pride in Mind & Planet: The Continuum - Breaking Barriers,” the caravan aimed to raise awareness about HIV prevention, encourage mental health conversations, and fight stigma and exclusion that many still face today.

The Sarong Bangui Eagles Club and Sarong Bangui Lady Eagles Club, in partnership with Sustained Health Initiatives of the Philippines, the Psychological Association of the Philippines – Bicol Chapter, the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines – CamSur Chapter, and LGU Milaor, launched a meaningful and impactful HIV Awareness Program!

We went beyond simply talking about HIV, we made sure the community received personal care and support. The program included informative talks to raise awareness, free HIV testing to encourage early detection, and psychological counseling to provide emotional and mental health support. To further promote prevention and safety, we distributed comprehensive care kits with essential medicines and supplies. And because holistic well-being also means nourishing the body as well as the mind, we shared a hearty lunch with everyone, because genuine awareness works best when it is rooted in compassion and the community.

This is more than a one-day event; it’s a movement to break stigma, spread knowledge, and build a healthier, stronger community.

Moving forward, we plan to coordinate with more LGUs, schools, and community organizations so we can reach more people, empower more families, and create a wider circle of awareness and support.

And guess what? This is just the start! 🦅❤️

To celebrate Eagles Week, the Sarong Bangui Eagles Club and Sarong Bangui Lady Eagles Club went on a wild (and wet!) adventure yesterday, July 12, for a tree planting activity in Brgy. Macad, Pasacao, Camarines Sur.

Just as we were making our way to the site, the rain poured in to cheer us on. We crossed a stream, slid through a muddy trail (yes, some of us did a split!), but true to our Eagle spirit, we pressed on. We planted Narra and Kamagong seedlings with muddy hands, soggy clothes, and even soggier shoes, but our hearts were full.

It was an experience we won’t forget anytime soon, meaningful, and filled with laughter. And to top it all off, we ended the activity with fresh buko juice straight from the coconut trees. Truly the best reward after a day of muddy but purposeful fun!

We would also like to thank the Municipal Police Station of Pasacao and the Barangay Tanods of Brgy. Macad for accompanying and assisting us on our way to the site. Your presence helped secure our safety and made the entire experience smoother and more enjoyable.

We came. We planted. We got soaked. And we had the best time doing it!

We are truly humbled and grateful!

Today marks a meaningful beginning as the Sarong Bangui Eagles Club and Sarong Bangui Lady Eagles Club, in partnership with St. Raphael the Archangel Parish in Pili, Camarines Sur, officially launched the "Adopt Undernourished, Out-of-School Children" Project.

This initiative seeks to provide well-balanced, nutritious meals to children from economically disadvantaged families while equipping them with foundational learning support to prepare them for formal schooling. Beyond addressing hunger and early education, we will also extend assistance to their parents through Responsible Parenthood programs to families to equip them with knowledge and tools for better care at home.

Our deepest thanks to St. Raphael the Archangel Parish for welcoming us as partners in this mission, and to our generous sponsors whose kindness and support make this project possible.

Together, let us continue to serve and uplift. 🦅
