CONGRATULATIONS!!!
"ADNU faculty and alumni present research at the 2nd IAJES Conference; A Natural Science paper wins an award."
Faculty members and alumni from the Ateneo de Naga University (ADNU) College of Science, Engineering, and Architecture (CSEA) participated in the 2nd International Association of Jesuit Engineering and Sciences School (IAJES) Asia-Pacific Regional Conference. The event took place at Xavier University โ Ateneo de Cagayan last December 4 to 5, 2025.
The conference theme was "Integral Innovation: Engineering and Sciences for a Just and Sustainable Future".
During the event, the study entitled "Sensitivity of Biofilm-Forming Gram-Negative Bacteria to Synthetic Antibiotics" received the Best Paper Award under the Environmental, Agricultural and Climate Solutions track. The paper was authored by Carlo C. Carmen, Khiean N. Cerezo, and Dr. Ma. Aurora A. Conde. Dr. Conde, the Chairperson of the Natural Science Department, presented the paper.
Several other papers were presented by the ADNU delegation across different tracks:
Environmental, Agricultural, and Climate Solutions Track:
Levin John Oropesa, a faculty member of the Natural Science Department, presented "Assessment of Teratogenic Contamination in Naga River using Zebrafish Embryotoxicity (Zfet) Assay".
Digital Technologies and Computing for Sustainability Track:
Kyra Radji Dagondon, an ECE alumnus, presented "Development of Localized IoT Microweather Stations for Baseline Meteorological Parameters in Naga City".
Dr. Joel R. Noche, Program Head of the Computer Engineering Program, presented "FPGA Implementation of IEEE 754-2019 Floating-Point Arithmetic Units".
Dr. Celeste Martinez-Ojeda, Chairperson of the ECE & CpE Department, presented "YOLO-Based License Plate Recognition & Logging System for Ateneo de Naga University".
In addition to the research presentations, CSEA administrators served as session moderators. Dr. Francis Delloro, Chairperson of the Mathematics Department, moderated the Engineering, Manufacturing and Systems Optimization track, while Dr. Referendo Soriano, Dean of CSEA, moderated the Human-Centric Innovation and Sustainable Energy Systems track.
Engr. Georgette Gesmundo-Tuplano, Chairperson of the Civil Engineering and Architecture Department, also presented the university's program offerings and research laboratories during the IAJES meeting.
