The NCF โ College of Criminal Justice Education successfully conducted its Community Extension Service entitled โEmpowHERment: Combating VAWC Through Awareness and Self-Protection Seminarโ at San Jose-West, Canaman, Camarines Sur on May 16, 2026.
Prior to the seminar, a clean-up drive was conducted through the active participation of Criminology Interns Batch 2 from Blocks C, D, E, F, G, H, I, Q, and R, together with barangay constituents headed by Hon. Lydia S. D. Salazar, Punong Barangay of San Jose-West. The activity showcased unity, cooperation, and collective responsibility in promoting a cleaner, safer, and healthier community environment.
Following the clean-up drive, the seminar proper was conducted to strengthen awareness and understanding on Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC), self-protection, and personal safety. The activity was actively attended by barangay officials, Sangguniang Kabataan members, Barangay Tanods, Force Multipliers, and community volunteers. Through the discussions and learning sessions, participants were encouraged to become more informed, vigilant, prepared, and empowered members of the community.
Sincere gratitude is extended to Ms. Jenifer M. San Agustin, RCrim., for sharing her expertise and demonstrating practical self-defense techniques, and to Atty. Alden B. Galido, RCrim., for imparting meaningful insights and strengthening public awareness on VAWC-related concerns.
As part of the extension initiative, cleaning and gardening materials were also donated to further support the barangayโs environmental and community development programs. The group likewise extends its sincere appreciation to the barangay officials headed by its Punong Barangay - Hon. Lydia S. D. Salazar for their warm accommodation, active participation, and unwavering support, which greatly contributed to the success of the activity.
