September 25, 2026 — Sultan Kudarat State University–Palimbang Campus joined the 52nd Commemoration of the Malisbong Massacre held at the SKSU–Palimbang Gymnasium, honoring the memory of the victims and recognizing the historical significance of the tragedy to the people of Palimbang and the Bangsamoro community.

The commemoration provided an opportunity for members of the university community and the local community to remember the lives lost, reflect on the lessons of history, and strengthen the collective commitment to peace, justice, human rights, and the preservation of historical memory.

Through remembering this painful chapter in history, SKSU–Palimbang recognizes the importance of ensuring that the stories of those who suffered are not forgotten and that future generations are given the opportunity to learn from the past.

The university remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote peace, understanding, historical awareness, and respect for human dignity, contributing to a community where the lessons of history can help guide the pursuit of a more peaceful future.

September 24, 2026 — The Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) 4th-year students of Sultan Kudarat State University–Palimbang Campus were officially deployed to Palimbang Central Elementary School for their Field Study 1 and Field Study 2.

The deployment was administered by 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚𝐡 𝐋. 𝐃𝐚𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐨, Acting College Dean and concurrent Acting Program Chairperson of BEED, as part of the program’s commitment to providing pre-service teachers with meaningful and practical experiences in actual school settings.

Through their field study, the students will have the opportunity to observe classroom practices, interact with learners and teachers, and apply concepts and theories gained from their coursework to real-world educational situations. The experience will further develop their competencies in classroom management, teaching strategies, learner engagement, and professional practice.

The field study deployment marks another important milestone in the preparation of SKSU’s future educators, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and experiences necessary to become competent, reflective, and learner-centered professional teachers.

Sultan Kudarat State University–Palimbang Campus successfully conducted the “𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐄 𝐀𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞: 𝐀 𝐆𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐓𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐤𝐢𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬” on 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, as part of the campus’ continuing commitment to promoting mental health, student safety, and a caring and supportive learning environment.

The half-day training provided participants with essential knowledge and practical skills in recognizing warning signs, understanding su***de risk factors, initiating supportive conversations, and connecting students to appropriate support and referral services. 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐒. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥, 𝐑𝐍, 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬 𝐍𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞, facilitated Session 1: Introduction, which covered the meaning of su***de and su***de attempts, su***de prevention, common misconceptions and facts, risk factors, vulnerable individuals, and warning signs. She also facilitated Session 2: The RACE Gatekeeper Toolkit and Case-Based Activities, focusing on the meaning and application of the RACE framework.

Meanwhile, 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚𝐡 𝐋. 𝐃𝐚𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐨, 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐞, facilitated Session 3: Campus Referral Pathways and Safety Protocols, which discussed when and where to refer, referral procedures, emergency response, and follow-up. She also led Session 4: Role Play, where participants practiced identifying warning signs, engaging in supportive conversations, and making appropriate referrals.

The activity was formally welcomed by 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐭. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐏. 𝐀𝐤𝐦𝐚𝐝 on behalf of Kendatu L. Tago, MAT, Campus Director, while Janice S. Marginal, RN presented the overview, objectives, and expectations of the training. The program concluded with the Gatekeeper Commitment: “I RACE for Student Safety".

Through this initiative, SKSU–Palimbang strengthens its commitment to creating a safe, compassionate, and supportive campus community, where students can feel heard, valued, and encouraged to seek help when needed.

On 24 September 1974, a military operation in Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat resulted in the displacement, detention, killing, and disappearance of civilians. The violence deeply affected Moro communities, including women, children, and families who continue to carry its memory.

Fifty-two years later, remembering Palimbang means listening to the survivors and families who have kept its history alive. Their testimonies, affidavits, oral histories, and community records help document what happened and give names and stories to those who were affected.

Memorializing Palimbang is part of transitional justice: recognizing victims and survivors, preserving the history of the community, and ensuring that the violence is neither forgotten nor repeated.

As we remember Palimbang, we honor the community’s continuing work of remembrance and reaffirm our responsibility to uphold truth, justice, human dignity, and the right of every community to live free from violence.

Faculty members and staff of SKSU–Palimbang actively participated in the anniversary parade and various friendship games and activities, joining fellow government employees and representatives from different government agencies in the municipality.

Beyond the celebration, the activity served as an opportunity to strengthen camaraderie, friendship, and collaboration among public servants who share a common commitment to serving the people of Palimbang.

Following the lifting of the suspension of face-to-face classes by the City Government of Tacurong, and upon consultation with the University President, the University shall continue the implementation of flexible learning modalities as a precautionary measure for the safety and welfare of students and personnel.

Accordingly, classes shall continue through appropriate synchronous, asynchronous, and other approved flexible learning modalities beginning September 23, 2026.

This arrangement is not a suspension of classes. Faculty members shall continue to conduct their scheduled classes, provide learning materials and activities, and maintain regular communication with students to ensure continuity of learning.

Campus Directors, Deans, and Program Chairpersons are directed to closely monitor the conduct of classes and ensure compliance with the approved learning arrangements.

The continuation of flexible learning shall remain in effect until lifted by the Office of the University President.

The Free Medical Services Program of Sultan Kudarat State University–Palimbang Campus, in partnership with the Sultan Kudarat Provincial Mobile Hospital, was successfully conducted, bringing essential healthcare services closer to the SKSU-Palimbang community.

Through the leadership and support of 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐲. 𝐂𝐲𝐫𝐮𝐬 𝐄. 𝐓𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞ñ𝐚, 𝐃𝐏𝐀, 𝐌𝐍𝐒𝐀, the initiative provided an opportunity for faculty, staff, students, alumni, and their immediate family members to access various medical services and health assistance right within the campus.

The activity was made even more meaningful through the support of the Local Government Unit of Palimbang, which provided free lugaw to patients and community members availing of the medical services.
