The Student Leaders Training Camp 2026 was more than just a camp, it was a journey that challenged me to grow, reflect, and discover the kind of leader I aspire to become.
As the incoming President of the PATTS Association of Science Enthusiasts (PASE), I entered SLTC with excitement, but also with uncertainty. I knew that leadership would require more than holding a position or carrying a title. It would require responsibility, character, discipline and the willingness to serve others before myself. Through this experience, I was given the opportunity to learn lessons that extend far beyond organizations and school responsibilities. These are the lessons that I know will guide me throughout my journey as a student leader and future aviation leader.
One of the biggest challenges I faced was overcoming my self-doubt. Being the youngest member of my team and being surrounded by college students made me question whether I was capable enough to lead and contribute meaningfully. There were moments when I hesitated to share my ideas, thinking that others might have more experience or better insights than I did.
However, as the camp progressed, every activity, challenge, and team tasks slowly changed my perspective. I realized that leadership is not about being the loudest voice in the room or always having the right answers. Leadership begins with listening and adapting. It is about understanding different perspectives, valuing every contribution, and creating an environment where everyone feels heard.
As the camp continued, another realization became clear to me: I still have so much to learn.
Rather than discouraging me, this realization became my motivation. It reminded me that leadership is a continuous journey of growth. No leader starts fully prepared. Every challenge, every mistake, and every experience becomes an opportunity to improve. SLTC inspired me to lead with purpose, set clear priorities, and continuously chase growth. I learned that when you truly desire something and are willing to work for it, you will always find a way to move forward and achieve it.
Most importantly, SLTC reminded me that leadership is never a journey taken alone.
Behind every leader is a group of people who support, encourage, and guide them. Above all, I learned to place my trust in the Lord, whose guidance continues to give me strength whenever I feel uncertain. I am equally grateful for my fellow aviation leaders, facilitators, organizers, and everyone who became part of this unforgettable experience. Their wisdom, encouragement, and example have left a lasting impact on me.
As I move forward into the next chapter of my leadership journey, I will carry with me every lesson, friendship, challenge, and memory that SLTC 2026 has given me. This experience taught me that growth does not happen within our comfort zones. Growth happens when we choose courage over fear, and action over hesitation. โ๏ธ
