📊 BSDS Business Communication Crash Course: Done! 💬✨

Data doesn't speak for itself—we have to know how to pitch it. On June 15 and 18, our BSDS students took part in a two-day Business Communication Crash Course designed to help them bridge the gap between technical data and effective presentation.

We were glad to have Dr. Alfonso Hiquiana facilitate the interactive seminar-workshops. Over the two-day event, Dr. Hiquiana worked with our students on how to package their technical skills for the professional world. 🧠💼

The workshop covered the essentials of building and delivering a solid presentation:
💡 Preparation & Structure: How to outline a talk and build a clear narrative before even opening a slide deck.
🎯 Slide Design & Strategy: How to properly organize layouts, balance text, and present data graphs on a slide so stakeholders actually grasp the main message.
🎤 Delivery: Practical techniques for managing stage presence and speaking confidently in front of an audience.

For the final activity, the students put everything they learned into practice by presenting a completely redesigned and improved version of a presentation they had already delivered in their previous classes.

It was great to see everyone—from our underclassmen to our graduating seniors—show up during the midyear term to level up their communication skills.

We are proud to share that our BS Data Science student Josemaria Louis D. Fernando presented a research paper at the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Information and Communication (ICAIIC) held on February 24–27, 2026, in Tokyo, Japan.

📄 Title: Parameter-Efficient Style-Controlled Summarization: An Investigation into LoRA Dynamics and Stylistic Collapse
