๐™‡๐™Š๐™Š๐™† | Isinagawa ng College of Nursing (CON) ng Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig ang ika-21 Capping, Pinning, and Candle Lighting Ceremony and Thanksgiving Mass para sa Batch 2029 kahapon, Agosto 20, 2026, sa PLP Auditorium.

Tampok sa seremonya ang Batch 2029 โ€œVita in Servitioโ€ (Life in Service), at ang pormal na pagtanggap ng mga Student Nurses (SN) ng kanilang caps at pins sa pamamagitan ng Presentation of Candidates, Ceremonial Candle Lighting, Imposition of Caps and Pins, at Florence Nightingale Pledge.

โ€œYou did not choose nursing because it was easy. You chose nursing because you are prepared to make a difference in the lives of others,โ€ ani ni Flores.

Samantala, ipinaalala naman ni City Mayor Hon. Victor Ma.

We are to treat the patients as our own family members and gagawin natin ang lahat para mabuhay sila and not deteriorate, so that they will achieve the quality of life that they deserve,โ€ ani Vargas.

Dinaluhan din ang ang nasabing okasyon nina Dr. Glicerio M. Maningas, Vice Mayor Hon. Robert Vincent Jude B. Jaworski, Congressman Hon.

Sa pamamagitan ng โ€œVita in Servitioโ€ โ€” Life in Service, dala ng Batch 2029 ang panibagong hamon na hindi lamang maging mahusay sa kaalaman at kasanayan, kundi higit sa lahat, maging mapagpakumbaba na handang maglingkod sa kapwa.

Magandang umaga ho, Aleng Pina, Mang Pinong!

Aba'y payag ho kayo agad?

๐™‡๐™„๐™๐™€๐™๐˜ผ๐™๐™” | We are pawns in this. Small pieces on a board built by countries larger than us, moved into place because we happen to sit where the game needs us to sitโ€” land, minerals, labor, a location convenient to everyone but ourselves.

No one asked the board what it wanted. No one ever does. It only gets told, after the fact, which square it has become: a node, a hub, a corridor of opportunity. Words chosen by those people who will never have to live inside the words they chose.

The cost will not fall on the ones negotiating the deal. It will fall on farmers in Tarlac already being asked to leave land they've worked for generations, land that fed a household long before it became a line on someone else's map. It will fall on whatever river runs closest to wherever the nickel and copper come out of the ground, because mining does not leave water the way it found it. It leaves the river a little browner every season, until what used to be clear enough to drink from becomes something a mother warns her children away from instead. It will fall on the mountain itself, ounce by ounce, until what used to be green from a distance is mostly scar up close, and no one who profited from the scarring will be the one standing there to see it.

It will fall, too, on workers promised jobs that mostly end when the construction does, because a chip facility, once built, does not need many hands to keep running. The promise arrives loud: thousands of positions, billions in investment, a golden future measured in hectares. What arrives quieter, later, is the layoff notice, the machines that replaced the crew that built them, the going back to whatever work existed before the hub was ever announced.

None of this makes us essential to the game. It makes us convenient to it. There is a difference, and the difference is the whole storyโ€” the difference between a piece the game needs to survive, and a piece the game simply happened to be standing on when it needed somewhere to put its next move.

The game will end eventually. Someone will win itโ€” some other country's supply chain secured, some other treasury's projections met. We will still be here, on the same board, checking what's left in the soil, in the river, in the ledger where our names were only ever listed as terrain.

Kabilang dito ang College of Business and Accountancy (CBA), College of International Hospitality Management (CIHM), College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), College of Engineering (COE), at College of Education (COED).

๐™‡๐™Š๐™Š๐™† | The College of Computer Studies (CCS) oriented students from first to fourth year on its academic programs, laboratory policies, school services, and career opportunities during its 2026 Student Orientation held on August 13, 2026 at the PLP Auditorium.

Dean Dr. Riegie D. Tan introduced CCS officials and briefed students on the collegeโ€™s academic programs, including the distinction between Computer Science and Information Technology. He also discussed career opportunities and available school services.

Dr. Greta M. Rosario emphasized in her opening message the importance of continuous development.

โ€œSuccess in the program is not entirely based on coding, but on the willingness to learn, adapt, and innovate through lifelong learning,โ€ said Dr. Rosario.

The orientation also highlighted CCS achievements and its General Plan of Action, providing students with an overview of the collegeโ€™s initiatives and plans.

Mr. Rodolfo A. Mirabel discussed the Computer Laboratory Rules and Regulations, reminding students that the use of computers is not a right; itโ€™s a privilege.

Meanwhile, Dr. Rebecca R. Fajardo emphasized the value of co-curricular activities as life experiences and introduced the CCS Elite Group to the students.

Dr. Noreen A. Perez closed the ceremony by encouraging upperclassmen to โ€œset a good example for the freshmen to follow.โ€

๐™‡๐™Š๐™Š๐™† | Freshmen of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig (PLP) were officially welcomed on the second day of Pagtahak 2026 yesterday, August 4, 2026 at the PLP Auditorium.

The morning session gathered students from the College of Engineering (COE), College of Education (COED), College of Computer Studies (CCS), and College of Arts and Sciences (CAS). Meanwhile in the afternoon, the College of International Hospitality Management (CIHM), College of Nursing (CON), and College of Business Accountancy (CBA) took part.

The highlight was the Expo Session featuring alumni panels: Engr. Eugene Embalzado, Mr. Christian Caberio, Ms. Norilyn Baiao, Ms. Jeramie Hermida, and Dr. Carolyn Alvero in the morning; Ms. Mary Rose Rom, Dr. Michelle Flores, Mr. Christian Jay Labong, Mr. Reynan Marin, and Ms. Yi Mica in the afternoon. Their stories reflected journeys from PLP students to professionals in their fields.

City officialsโ€”including Mayor Victor Ma. Regis Sotto, Vice Mayor Robert Jaworski, Congressman Roman Romulo, and Councilor Simon Tantocoโ€”also congratulated the freshmen, emphasizing the privileges and responsibilities of being Pasig scholars.

Performances added vibrance to the program. The Pasigyaw Dance Troupe opened with โ€œIpanumpa Ko,โ€ symbolizing a PLPianโ€™s journey. Cultural groups followed with intermission numbers: PLP Himig Chorale sang โ€œSalamat Musika,โ€ โ€œKay Ganda ng Ating Musika,โ€ โ€œIsang Mundo, Isang Awit,โ€ and โ€œNosi Ba Lasi,โ€ while Pasigyaw performed โ€œShooting for the Starsโ€ with the Supreme Student Council. The English Society capped the event with a short play on friendship and perseverance, ending in a community dance.

Freshmen expressed appreciation for the program, describing it as an encouraging start to their university life.

โ€œPagtahak 2026 was a warm and welcoming experience. I truly felt accepted by the PLP community, and it was clear that much effort went into organizing the event,โ€ said Von Lewl Ynoc, a first-year student from the College of Computer Studies.

Another freshman, Jan James Santos, said the event inspired new students to pursue their goals, adding that it โ€œwelcomes freshmen in a good way where they can be more inspired to pursue their passion here in PLP.โ€
