The Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) and the Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC) extend our deepest sympathies and heartfelt solidarity to the people of Nepal following the devastating flash floods of August 26, 2026. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and communities affected, those still unaccounted for, and all those working tirelessly in search, rescue, relief, and recovery efforts.

As a valued member of the CPSC family since 1973 and a longstanding TVET partner, we stand with Nepal in this difficult time and call upon the CPSC and APACC family to come together in solidarity and support as the nation moves toward recovery and rebuilding.

The Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) welcomed Dir. Antonio Borromeo, TESDA Board Member for the Business and Investment Sector; Bishop Dr. Alexander Mercado of the Asian Caregiving Technology Education Centers, Inc. (ACTEC); and Ms. Mica Ella Alonzo during a meeting held on July 16, 2026.

The meeting explored potential areas of collaboration to strengthen TVET in the Philippines, particularly in addressing the evolving needs of the private TVET sector and industry. Discussions focused on TVET qualifications and ladderization, micro-credentialing, industry responsiveness, benchmarking and international linkages, and accreditation opportunities through the Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC).

CPSC Director General Prof. (Dr.) Suresh Kumar Dhameja highlighted the College’s role in advancing TVET across its 16 active member countries, as well as its strong partnership with the Philippine Government through TESDA.

Also in attendance were CPSC Faculty Specialists Prof. Naeem Yaqoob and Prof. Rhodora Ulan, along with Executive Secretary Ms. Arlene Cruz.

Twenty-one (21) TVET leaders from 11 Asia-Pacific countries embarked on a shared journey toward transforming the future of skills development through the Regional Program on 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲-𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗧𝗩𝗘𝗧 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰, held from June 29 to July 3, 2026.

Organized by the Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) in collaboration with The Colombo Plan, the five-day program empowered participants to drive digital transformation, champion quality assurance, and build resilient, future-ready TVET systems.

The program was conducted under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Suresh Kumar Dhameja, CPSC Director General, together with Dr. Benjamin P. Reyes, Outgoing Secretary-General of The Colombo Plan, and Mrs. Chulamanee Chartsuwan, newly selected Secretary-General of The Colombo Plan. Program coordination was led by Prof. Naeem Yaqoob, CPSC Faculty Specialist, with the support of Ms. Merlyn A. Francisco, Chief Financial Officer, and Mr. Wimal Wakwella, Administrative Officer, who served as Local Program Coordinators.
