For Tinnie, it has taken her from UA&P to Hong Kong, building a career grounded in both strategy and a deep understanding of people.

A 2016 Human Capital Development graduate, Tinnie joined JPMorgan Chase & Co. through its rotational analyst program. Ten years later, she is now the Vice President in Employee Relations, having grown through different roles while supporting both employees and the business.

Along the way, the lessons of HCD have remained part of how she works.

“HCD taught me to view things strategically while always keeping people at the core, to understand different perspectives, stay curious, and recognize the human impact behind decisions and strategies.”

What began as principles learned in the classroom have become ways of approaching conversations, navigating challenges, making decisions, and connecting with people.

And the relationships have endured, too. Her professors and HCD block mates have become what she calls “core anchors” in her life, even years after graduation.

Tinnie’s journey shows that HCD formation goes beyond preparing graduates for a first job. It shapes how they think, work, lead, and relate with others throughout their careers.

ᴡʜᴇʀᴇ ᴄᴀɴ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴇᴅᴜᴄᴀᴛɪᴏɴ ᴅᴇɢʀᴇᴇ ᴛᴀᴋᴇ ʏᴏᴜ?

For Sasa Del Rosario, it has taken her from learning about young children, to learning alongside them every day.

A 2025 graduate of UA&P’s BS Child Development and Education program, Sasa first entered the CDE Center as an ECE student completing her practicum. There, the theories and approaches she encountered in class became real children, real relationships, and the everyday responsibilities of an early childhood educator.

The experience affirmed that this was where she wanted to be.

After graduation, Sasa returned to the CDE Center, this time as a teacher. She began with Kinder and now teaches Pre-Kinder. In her first years of practice, she has learned to be intentional in planning while remaining responsive to what her students need. She has also come to understand that teaching young children extends well beyond the lessons we prepare. It means building relationships, creating meaningful experiences, working closely with families, and knowing when to adapt.

As she begins to find her own voice as an educator, Sasa continues to carry a disposition formed during her years at SED:

“My time in UA&P and SED cultivated in me a commitment to lifelong learning. Teaching is not simply about what we already know, but also about our willingness to keep learning and growing.”

Her graduation may have marked the end of her years as an ECE student, but not the end of her learning. Each day in the classroom gives her another opportunity to reflect, refine her practice, and continue becoming the educator she wants to be.

ᴡʜᴇʀᴇ ᴄᴀɴ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴇᴅᴜᴄᴀᴛɪᴏɴ ᴅᴇɢʀᴇᴇ ᴛᴀᴋᴇ ʏᴏᴜ?

For Mac Valdez, it has taken him across countries, industries, and organizations, but his journey was already taking shape well before his first day at work.

A 2016 Cum Laude graduate of UA&P’s Human Capital Development program, Mac embraced university life beyond the classroom. He served as Student Government President, was a four-time MVP and basketball team captain, and received the Dragon of the Year, the university’s highest student award.

That pursuit of excellence continued beyond UA&P. Mac became captain of the Philippine National Beach Handball Team and represented the country at the Southeast Asian Games, earning both bronze and silver medals.

Professionally, his career began in London as Asia’s lone HR delegate to Deutsche Bank’s Global Graduate Program. A decade later, he is now People Organization Regional Project Lead for APAC at Aon, working across learning and development, total rewards, early careers, systems integration, and other regional people initiatives.

Through each role, lessons from HCD in organizational psychology and change management have remained relevant as he helps organizations respond to changing workforce demands.

Mac’s story reflects the holistic formation of a UA&P education, where learning, leadership, character, and the pursuit of excellence develop alongside one another. From student leader and athlete to national team captain and regional HR leader, his path shows just how many places an Education degree can take you.

For Charade Quesada, education has taken her from the classroom and school leadership into a space where learning, making, design, and sustainability meet.

A graduate of UA&P’s MA Education, specializing in Child Development and Education, Charade spent more than a decade as a teacher and school administrator. Through those years, she saw firsthand how the work of an educator continually changes and how teaching calls for the willingness to learn, adapt, and respond to new possibilities.

Today, Charade is Co-Founder and Education Lead of MOLD Makerspace and Circular Design Studio. MOLD brings together emerging technologies, creative practice, and the principles of the circular economy to rethink how things are designed and made. Through its education initiatives, Charade continues to create opportunities for people to learn by exploring, designing, and making.

Her path may have moved beyond the traditional classroom, but Charade sees a clear thread connecting the work she does today with her formation as an educator.

“UA&P prepared me to meet the shifting expectations of what a teacher should be. It shaped me into a lifelong learner. We were taught to adapt and remain flexible, while holding fast to our integrity and principles.”

She also continues to value the community she found at UA&P, staying connected with professors and mentors who have accompanied her through different stages of her life and career.

For Charade, being an educator has never meant following only one path. Sometimes, education equips you to create a new one.

For Mich Garcia, it has taken her from developing individual learners to helping shape decisions that affect people across an organization.

A 2019 graduate of UA&P’s Human Capital Development program, Mich began her career as a Training Specialist at San Miguel Foods, where she learned the importance of ex*****on, change management, and understanding a multigenerational workforce. She later joined Meralco as an L&D Partner, working at the intersection of skills gaps and business performance. Today, she serves as an HR Business Partner for Meralco’s Generation and RES arm.

As her responsibilities grew, so did the scale of her work. Yet one idea from HCD has remained constant: organizations are systems made up of people, and every business decision ultimately touches a human life.

“Productivity. Purpose. People. Our HCD degree isn’t just a diploma; it’s a toolkit. HCD has taught us to see systems, learning cycles, and the human dignity behind every corporate decision.”

This perspective becomes especially tangible in the everyday work of HR. A promotion, transfer, or training request may appear as a process on paper, but behind it is a person, a family, and an opportunity for growth.

Mich’s journey reflects an HCD education that brings together the whole-person approach, systems thinking, adult learning, and the design of effective interventions. These foundations continue to inform how she connects people strategy with organizational goals.

Today, her work in people development carries forward a distinctly human-centered view of organizations: helping them move forward without losing sight of the people who move them.

ᴡʜᴇʀᴇ ᴄᴀɴ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴇᴅᴜᴄᴀᴛɪᴏɴ ᴅᴇɢʀᴇᴇ ᴛᴀᴋᴇ ʏᴏᴜ?

For Carl Moog, it has taken him from classrooms to communities, international organizations, policy work, and now, education research. Through each of these spaces, one question has remained at the heart of his work: How can education create better opportunities for children?

A 2012 graduate of SED’s MA Development Education program, the predecessor of Human Capital Development, Carl began his career as a lecturer at SED before teaching in high school and working in Corporate Social Responsibility consulting. He later moved into international development, managing projects for USAID, World Vision, and UNICEF in the Philippines and Fiji.

His work has addressed some of the conditions that shape whether children can fully participate in education. He has contributed to policies supporting children with disabilities, explored the use of educational technology for marginalized learners, and implemented programs that helped schools and learners prepare for emergencies such as typhoons and earthquakes.

Today, Carl is a PhD candidate in Educational Foundations at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. His research examines how education research, policy, and classroom practice can work more closely together. He also serves as graduate student coordinator for the Hawai‘i Education Research Network.

Through the different turns in his career, Carl continues to carry with him something formed during his years at SED:

“UA&P and SED gave me a lasting belief in the transformative power of education. When designing programs and policies, I always return to the importance of developing the whole person.”

For Carl, advocating for children means remembering that behind every policy, program, and research undertaking are children whose opportunities to learn, participate, and thrive depend on the systems we build.

ᴄʜɪʟᴅ ᴀᴅᴠᴏᴄᴀᴛᴇ | sᴇᴅ ᴀʟᴜᴍɴɪ sᴛᴏʀɪᴇs

ᴡʜᴇʀᴇ ᴄᴀɴ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴇᴅᴜᴄᴀᴛɪᴏɴ ᴅᴇɢʀᴇᴇ ᴛᴀᴋᴇ ʏᴏᴜ?

For Brian Sese, it has taken him to the intersection of people and business, where developing talent goes hand in hand with building stronger organizations.

Brian’s HCD journey began when he shifted into the program in his second year. He was drawn to how HCD brought together an understanding of people with the realities of business. More importantly, what he learned did not stay inside the classroom. Student organizations became a place where he could put ideas into practice, make mistakes, and learn from experience.

After UA&P, Brian built his career in learning and development, with roles at Cebu Pacific and Shopee, before moving further into consulting. Today, he is Partner and Director of Consulting at Create Synergies Inc., where he works with business and HR leaders across industries on leadership development, organization development, team effectiveness, and capability building.

Through the changes in his career, one idea from HCD continues to shape how he approaches his work:

“HCD taught me early on that people and business have to go together. When you’re developing people and building their capabilities, it can’t just be learning for the sake of learning. It has to connect back to where the business is going and what it is trying to achieve.”

Brian also carries with him the relationships he formed at SED. Professors who once brought their professional experiences into his classes became mentors, and some eventually became colleagues and professional partners.

For Brian, building an organization means understanding that its people and its purpose cannot be separated. As he puts it, “people and business need to move together.”

ᴡʜᴇʀᴇ ᴄᴀɴ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴇᴅᴜᴄᴀᴛɪᴏɴ ᴅᴇɢʀᴇᴇ ᴛᴀᴋᴇ ʏᴏᴜ?

For Ina Gonda-Ramos, it has taken her from the Philippines to South Australia, and from the classroom into educational leadership and wider conversations about early childhood education.

A 2012 graduate of UA&P’s MA Education, Major in Child Development and Education, Ina is now Assistant Director and Educational Leader at Goodstart Early Learning in Burton, South Australia. Her work brings together teaching, instructional leadership, quality improvement, and the development of educators as reflective professionals.

Moving into a new educational context also meant learning again. While Ina brought with her years of experience and a strong foundation in early childhood education, working in Australia introduced her to different frameworks, expectations, and approaches to play-based learning.

“That experience taught me the importance of remaining a learner, regardless of how experienced we become.”

Today, Ina also contributes to broader conversations on early childhood education in South Australia, including initiatives supporting preschool for three-year-olds.

Across countries and changing roles, one thing has remained constant for Ina: “to make education meaningful for children and to help build the capability of the educators who shape their earliest experiences.”
