We are thrilled to welcome the Future Bridging Leaders Program Alumni Association (FBLPAA) as our distinguished resource persons for Suntuan 2026: Student Leadership Summit. Bringing diverse expertise and real-world leadership experiences, the team will facilitate meaningful learning sessions designed to empower student leaders for greater impact.

Participants can look forward to engaging discussions on Organizational Planning, From Classroom to Community Leadership, and Design Thinking for Innovation and Social Impact, key themes that will equip students with practical tools to lead effectively within their organizations, campuses, and communities.

𝗦𝗨𝗡𝗧𝗨𝗔𝗡 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲: 𝗞𝗘𝗬𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗘 𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗥

Sulu State University is honored to welcome Prof. Manuel “Manny” J. De Vera of the Asian Institute of Management as the Keynote Speaker for the Suntuan 2026: Student Leadership Summit.

Prof. De Vera is an Assistant Professor at the Asian Institute of Management and currently serves as the Executive Director of the AIM TeaM Energy Center for Bridging Leadership (AIMTEC-BL). A respected leader in development and public policy, he has played a vital role in shaping leadership programs that empower changemakers across sectors.

He holds a PhD in Development Studies from the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), University of Sussex (UK), a Master in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of the Philippines Diliman.

Since 2014, Prof. De Vera has overseen the development of the Future Bridging Leaders Program (FBLP) as its Program Director. Beyond academia, Prof. De Vera brings over a decade of experience in public policy design and implementation, working closely with leaders and institutions to drive meaningful and inclusive change.

Sulu State University, through the Office of Student Affairs and Services, in partnership with the Future Bridging Leaders Program Alumni Association, proudly presents Suntuan 2026: Student Leadership Summit with the theme "Sailing Together: A Leadership Journey Toward Collective Impact," happening on April 26–27, 2026.

This year, the summit broadens its horizons by bringing together not only student government and student organizations, but also Students with Diverse Abilities, Students with Unique Backgrounds, and our stalwart Athletes and Artists, fostering a more inclusive leadership space that celebrates diversity, collaboration, and shared purpose.

Designed as a transformative leadership journey, the summit moves student leaders from inspiration to action. Through keynote and plenary sessions on bridging leadership, participants engage in hands-on Design Thinking to identify challenges, develop solutions, and shape initial program concepts. Collaborative planning through GPOA development and a World Café–style further strengthens partnerships and shared initiatives.

The Office of Student Affairs and Services is now accepting nominations for the Recognition for Special Awards, in accordance with Article 26 of the Student Manual.

These awards honor students who have not only demonstrated excellence but have also created meaningful impact within the university building a legacy of leadership, service, and achievement.

Nominations are open for the following categories:
• Leadership Award
• Service Award
• Artist Award
• Athletic and Cultural Award
• Internship Award

Deadline for submission is on or before May 8, 2026. Nominate those whose contributions leave a legacy that continues to inspire.

The Office of Student Affairs and Services opens the nominations for the Outstanding Students of the Year (OSY) 2026 as part of Pagkilā 2026.

The OSY Award recognizes exemplary undergraduate students of Sulu State University who demonstrate excellence in Academics, Research, and Extension. This year, two new categories, Innovation and Legacy have been introduced to honor students who create meaningful impact and lasting contributions to the university and the community.
