𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗘𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 “𝗣𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗦𝗜𝗚𝗡: 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴” 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴

On December 27–28, 2025, College of Pharmacy joined the two-day “PharmaSIGN: Hands in Healing” Basic Filipino Sign Language training, held at the University of St. Louis, Tuguegarao City, and led by the PPhA – Cagayan North Chapter.

Through hands-on activities, interactive sessions, and group discussions, students and faculty discovered practical ways to communicate with the Deaf community. The training highlighted empathy, inclusivity, and patient-centered care, encouraging everyone to offer pharmacy services with greater understanding, compassion, and heart.

Day 2 of the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗨𝗔𝗟 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗟𝗧𝗛 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗖𝗛 𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗨𝗠, organized by 𝗖𝗮𝗴𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘂𝗺 (𝗖𝗩𝗛𝗥𝗗𝗖), continued on December 16, 2025, at the 𝗡𝗚𝗡 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗹, 𝗧𝘂𝗴𝘂𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗼 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗖𝗮𝗴𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻, with participants coming together to deepen conversations on research, innovation, and collaboration in health.

The day opened with Plenary Session 2, featuring a keynote talk by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗝𝗮𝘆𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗧. 𝗦𝘂𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗮 on “Use of AI for Literature Reference Management in Research.” The session offered practical insights on how artificial intelligence can support researchers in managing references and improving the efficiency of academic and health-related studies.

Before the awarding ceremony, participants witnessed the 3-Minute Pitch to Policymakers, where representatives from various academic institutions confidently presented research-based policy ideas in a short but impactful format. Among the presenters was 𝗦𝗶𝗿 𝗞𝗖 𝗥. 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗼 of 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀, along with participants from other schools, highlighting the active involvement of institutions in policy-relevant research.

The forum concluded with the Awarding and Closing Ceremony, celebrating outstanding research contributions. A highlight of the day was the achievement of 𝗠𝗮'𝗮𝗺 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲 𝗚𝗶𝘁𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗼, who earned 1st Place in the Digital Research Poster Presentation (Professional Category) a testament to excellence in research innovation and communication. Congrats also to 𝗠𝗮'𝗮𝗺 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝘇, who actively participated and showcased her research skills!

Overall, Day 2 reflected the forum’s strong emphasis on 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲-𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴, as the activities supported SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through health-focused research discussions, SDG 4 (Quality Education) by fostering academic engagement and research skills, and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through the integration of innovation and artificial intelligence in health research.

The opening program began with the Welcome Remarks by 𝐃𝐫. 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐮𝐬 𝐓. 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐢, followed by messages from 𝐃𝐫. 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐚 𝐆. 𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐚, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐅𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐛𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐧, and 𝐃𝐫. 𝐉𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐂. 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐲𝐚. Collectively, the speakers emphasized 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲-𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 in advancing health research.

The keynote speakers were formally introduced by 𝐌𝐫. 𝐑𝐞𝐲𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐝𝐨 𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐮𝐥 and 𝐃𝐫. 𝐀𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚 𝐑𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥, setting the stage for an insightful plenary session. The session featured keynote speakers 𝐃𝐫. 𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩 𝐌𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐥 and 𝐌𝐬. 𝐑𝐨𝐱𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐂. 𝐑𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐳, who discussed the integration of artificial intelligence, health, and contemporary approaches in current research landscapes.

In the afternoon, the forum continued with simultaneous parallel sessions, including Oral Research Paper Presentations and Digital Poster Presentations for both professional and student categories. Faculty members 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐳 and 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞 𝐆𝐢𝐭𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐨 from the College of Pharmacy participated in the Digital Poster Presentation (Professional Category), while five pharmacy students attended the forum to observe, learn, and gain exposure to ongoing health research discussions.

Day 1 was filled with opportunities for learning, collaboration, and meaningful exchange of ideas, giving both professionals and students valuable insights into the latest trends in health research. In line with 𝐒𝐃𝐆 3 (𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥-𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠), the forum promotes research that can positively impact community health. By fostering knowledge and capacity-building for students and professionals, it also contributes to 𝐒𝐃𝐆 4 (𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧). At the same time, the forum encourages innovation and the application of new technologies, supporting 𝐒𝐃𝐆 9 (𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲, 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞) and empowering participants to engage in evidence-based, cutting-edge research.

With the support of the 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, they reached out to hypertensive patients by offering a medicine lecture and a thorough health assessment providing not just information, but a sense of care and assurance in managing their condition.

Guided by the goals of 𝗦𝗗𝗚 𝟯: 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹-𝗕𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴, the initiative enhances patient counseling, medication adherence, and health literacy—strengthening pharmaceutical care to improve treatment outcomes. Beneficiaries received free health education along with 𝗗𝗢𝗛-sponsored medicines and multivitamins, as well as rice provided by the 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗮𝗴𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻, easing some of the challenges they face in maintaining their health and daily needs.

The 4th year Pharmacy students from the Medical Colleges of Northern Philippines are conducting this survey as part of our undergraduate thesis titled: “𝙁𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨 𝘼𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙍𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙋𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙘𝙮 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄𝙩𝙨 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙩 𝙤𝙣 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙇𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙀𝙭𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚.”
