As we celebrate National Choral Day, we honor the remarkable legacy of National Artist for Music, Prof. Andrea O. Veneracion. She believed that choral music was far more than performanceโit was a powerful way to preserve culture, tell our stories, and unite people through a shared love for music.
Her life's work reminds us that a choir is not simply a group of singers. It is a community that carries the traditions, emotions, and identity of the people whose voices it represents.
For every chorister, music is never something we own. It is a gift temporarily placed in our handsโto learn, to embrace, and ultimately, to share with others.
Each piece we perform has been passed down through generations, shaped by countless voices before ours. For a short time, we become its caretakers, entrusted to keep its spirit alive and pass it on to future listeners and singers.
Because choral singing is more than creating beautiful harmoniesโit is about preserving heritage, inspiring hearts, and leaving a lasting legacy through every note.
Happy National Choral Day! ๐ต๐ญโจ
