🏆 BS BIOLOGY STUDENT IS THE MIMAROPA REGIONAL CHAMPION IN THE 30TH PHILIPPINE STATISTICS QUIZ! 📊🎉

Another proud moment for the Department of Biology, College of Sciences, Palawan State University! 💚

Congratulations to Mr. Charles Noel L. Castro, a BS Biology Major in Medical Biology student, for emerging as the Regional Champion in the 30th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) Regional Championships, organized by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) MIMAROPA Region and held at Oriental Mindoro National High School.

Joining Charles in PSU’s strong finish were Mr. Einoz Russel P. Gabo, who placed First Runner-Up, and Mr. Zedrick Shane D. Manzul, who secured 6th place. Both are BS Petroleum Engineering students.

Special congratulations to their coach, Engr. Jerico M. Padrones, CS, for guiding and preparing the PSU delegation for the competition.

With this regional victory, Charles will represent MIMAROPA in the 30th Philippine Statistics Quiz National Finals on November 6, 2026, in Quezon City. We wish him the best as he takes on the next level of competition!

🏆 BS BIOLOGY STUDENT WINS 1ST PLACE IN THE 15TH MHRDC HEALTH RESEARCH FORUM!

Congratulations to Mr. Kenneth Earl B. Paredes, a Batch 2026 graduate of the BS Biology Major in Medical Biology program of Palawan State University, for winning 1st Place in the Student Category – Poster Presentation during the 15th MHRDC Health Research Forum, held on October 5–7, 2026, at Hotel Palacio, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

Mr. Paredes presented the study entitled “Bioactive Compounds and Cytotoxicity Screening of Selected Philippine Endemic Begonia Species,” co-authored by Althea C. Valdez, Fatima J. Labadan, Rosalio D. Abile, and Ronnie Dave D. Abile, under the guidance of their advisers, Prof. Lea M. Camangeg and Prof. Abrila M. Langbao.

The study explored the bioactive compounds and potential pharmacological applications of eight Philippine Begonia species found in Palawan. It also examined the total phenolic content of selected leaf extracts and their cytotoxic activity.

Congratulations to Kenneth, his co-authors, and their advisers! Your hard work in research makes the Department of Biology and the College of Sciences proud. May this achievement inspire more of our students to pursue research that contributes to science and public health. 👏💙

🏆 PSU SWEEPS THE 30TH PROVINCIAL PHILIPPINE STATISTICS QUIZ! 📊

Congratulations to Charles Noel L. Castro, a BS Biology Major in Medical Biology student, for taking the 1st Place in the 30th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) Provincial Elimination held today, September 24, 2026, in Puerto Princesa City! 👏🥇

PSU also took the 2nd and 3rd places, with Zedrick Shane D. Manzul and Einoz Russel P. Gabo, both from Petroleum Engineering.

Congratulations, Charles Noel! The Department of Biology is very proud of this achievement!

PSU BEARCATS SWEEP THE PODIUM! 🏆

Palawan State University (PSU) delivered a remarkable performance at the Provincial Elimination of the 30th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) held on September 24, 2026, in Puerto Princesa City, securing all three podium finishes.

Charles Noel L. Castro, a BS Biology major in Medical Biology, emerged as the Provincial Champion, while BS Petroleum Engineering students Zedrick Shane D. Manzul and Einoz Russel P. Gabo placed first and second runners-up, respectively. The PSU delegation competed under the guidance of faculty coach Prof. Jerico Padrones.

The Philippine Statistics Quiz, spearheaded by the Philippine Statistics Authority, is an annual competition that promotes statistical literacy and challenges students in statistics, analytical thinking, and data interpretation.

Following their impressive provincial finish, PSU’s top winners will advance to the Regional Championships, representing the University and the Province of Palawan. Congratulations to our Bearcats for bringing pride and excellence to PalSU! 🧡
