Following a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the University of the Philippines and JHU Carey, UP alumni and students now have a direct pathway to pursue a Master of Science degree at America’s first research university.

THIS OCTOBER AT PAROLA: 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲: 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲, 𝗘𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 🍉

As a prelude to October 7, globally celebrated as Palestinian Heritage Day, the University of the Philippines, in collaboration with the Embassy of the State of Palestine, presents an exhibition of Palestinian visual culture to testify to the catastrophic loss of a people’s physical and cultural memory alongside the genocide happening across the Gaza Strip today.

Gathering a selection of photographs, crafts, and devotional objects, the exhibit offers visitors a direct connection to Palestine’s enduring cultural traditions.
​
Photographs of historic sites across the West Bank are juxtaposed alongside images of Gaza’s heritage sites before and after their destruction. Traditional arts, ranging from embroidery, painting, and devotional items, are presented as testimonies to a culture’s enduring beauty and vitality amid the systematic annihilation of Palestinian identity, collective memory, history, and land.

By putting the spotlight on both tangible and intangible cultural heritage in this time of crisis, the exhibit extends the message of solidarity and aspiration for social justice.

Opening on October 5, the exhibition organized with the College of Fine Arts, opens the month-long series of university-wide collaborative events which offer spaces for inter-cultural dialogue on the connection between cultural and fundamental human rights. The exhibition will run up to October 30, 2026.

[CALL FOR PARTICIPATION | 3rd International Conference on Digital Economy and Computer Science (DECS 2026)]

The Shinawatra University, Thailand invites scholars, researchers, academics, industry professionals, and innovators to participate in the 3rd International Conference on Digital Economy and Computer Science (DECS 2026), to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 13–15 November 2026.

The conference will provide a platform for the presentation and exchange of research and perspectives on Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Blockchain Technology, Big Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Virtual and Mixed Reality, Computer Science, Digital Economy, and Emerging Technologies and Digital Transformation.

[INTERNATIONALIZATION OPPORTUNITY: APRU Open Dialogues 7th Cohort]

The Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), in collaboration with Tecnológico de Monterrey, is inviting applications from undergraduate students for the 7th Cohort of APRU Open Dialogues, to be held virtually on October 29, 2026, at 7:00 PM Manila time.

The program aims to explore the evolving role of “soft skills” in preparing university graduates for success in a globalized, multicultural, and increasingly changing labor market. It will also examine a (perceived) gap between university education and workplace demands.

Motivation essay (around 500 words)
Optional: GWA certification, true copy of grades, recommendation letter from a professor, certificate of year level standing

Submission:
Applicants shall submit all documents to their UP CU OIL.
Once approved and endorsed by the UP CU OIL, they will route the application to UP System OIL.
UP System OIL will receive and process the application.

Deadline: UP System OIL must receive the documents endorsed by the UP CU OIL by Oct 5, 2026.

Funding: MOVE-UP Financial Assistance is not available for this program.

🌏 UP advances gender-transformative education in Southeast Asia

The University of the Philippines, through the ASEAN University Network on Gender Justice and Inclusion (AUN-GJI), joined SEAMEO RIHED in bringing together over 60 higher education leaders and practitioners for a regional learning exchange on designing gender-transformative curricula.

Held from 31 August to 2 September 2026 at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, the program also marked the signing of an MOU between UP and SEAMEO RIHED through AUN-GJI, strengthening collaboration toward more gender-just and inclusive higher education in the region.
