PAHINGA: Talakayan sa DMST

The UP Diliman Department of Military Science and Tactics (DMST) celebrates the month of March as the “ROTC Month” as per Proclamation No. 340, series of 2012, and in line with that celebration, the Department will host a series of lectures entitled, “PAHINGA: Talakayan sa DMST.”

The aim of the lecture series is to apprise the participants with an introduction and awareness of the defense and security issues, and updates affecting the Philippine security environment. It is designed to provide an avenue to generate discussions amongst the participants and knowledgeable resource persons and subject matter experts. The main objective of this activity is to provide a dialogue space between and among the Department, the ROTC Corps of Cadets, and the campus community in general on matters pertaining to national defense and security.

For our first installment of this lecture series, the topic to be discussed will be about Security Issues in the West Philippine Sea. Our resource speaker for this installment is Prof. Jay L. Batongbacal, Director of Institute for Maritime Affairs and Law of the Sea of the UP Law Center. He will be discussing the background and overview of the ruling of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in the case of The Republic of the Philippines v. The People’s Republic of China, PCA Case No. 2013-19.

It will be held this Saturday, 16 March 2024 at 9:00AM at the Malcolm Hall Theater, UP Diliman. For those who are interested to join, you may register at https://bit.ly/PahingaWPS
