DOST-NCR brings sustainability education to TriNoma through TOURong Kalikasan at Agham sa NCR ๐ฑ๐โป๏ธ
April 17 โ To encourage students of diverse ages, teachers, and parents in practicing sustainability while enabling science and technologies, the DOST-National Capital Region, in collaboration with Partnerships for Sustainability Education (PSE) and Trinoma by Ayala Malls, conducts TOURong Kalikasan at Agham sa NCR! at the Cinema Lobby, TriNoma Mall, Quezon City.
The CITIES360 Program of DOST-NCR, which envisions Metro Manila as an inclusive, smart, sustainable and circular urban area, is highlighted in this initiative, emphasizing how repurposing, recycling, and rejecting the use of single-use plastics can make a significant difference if practiced.
Key representatives from Barangay Balangkas and Barangay Payatas's Material Recovery Facilities (MRF) will also join the celebration by teaching participants on how to utilize materials often seen within households. Both communities are beneficiaries of the DOST-NCR Grassroots Innovation for Inclusive Development (GRIND) and Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) Programs.
Furthermore, DOST-NCR's Assistant Regional Director for Technical Support Services (TSS) Ms. Bianca Claudette R. Canlas, Quezon City Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability Department Ms. Maila C. Soriano, PSE Executive Director Ms. Rochelle M. Razo, PIIE ORSP QCU Student Chapter President Mr. Vincent V. Cabuslay, and QCU Robotics President Mr. John Daniel Cimanes joined the panel discussions where participants had the initiative to ask and suggest on how community, businesses, and institutions be more involved in promoting circular economy.
This initiative emphasizes the importance of community engagement and participation to transform linear communities to become circular and sustainable through practical solutions.
