Can we really consider ourselves free from our colonial past? How have colonial legacies remained in our educational systems, and how have these affected our own ideologies and beliefs? What do we need to unlearn in order to promote linguistic diversity, inclusivity, and local epistemologies in language and literature classrooms?

If these questions intrigue you, then join the English 295 (Decolonizing English Studies) class of the MA English Studies: Language Program of the UP Diliman Department of English and Comparative Literature for a student-led roundtable discussion entitled: From Epistemic Critiques to Decolonial Praxis: Looking at Decolonization as a Process of Unlearning. Weโ€™ll be tackling the questions mentioned previously as well as seeing how pedagogical, linguistic, and epistemic practices can be sites of decolonization.

Tired of just reacting? Letโ€™s understand the โ€˜Raging Undercurrentsโ€™ shaping Philippine politics.

The Philippines is in a state of political and emotional turbulence. Why do we feel so intensely about political figures and events? From massive protests to the sharpest memes, how do our collective anger, loyalty, and outrage become the fuel for ideology and action?

The Eng 208 (Discourse Analysis) class of the UP Diliman Department of English and Comparative Literature invites you to:

RAGING UNDERCURRENTS: A Forum on Affect and Discourse in the Philippinesโ€™ Current Political Crisis

Weโ€™re analyzing the connection between feelings, language, and political conviction in the midst of scandals and political maneuvers.

Don't just observe the storm; understand the undercurrents.
