UP OSR GOES TO UP MINDANAO SCHOOL OF MEDICINE LAUNCHING 🏥❤️‍🔥

Today, September 4, the UP Office of the Student Regent and Opisina ng Faculty Regent joined the launching of the School of Medicine of UP Mindanao. The program has 40 accepted applicants with the batch name: Banwag, translating to beacon.

During the afternoon student consultation, the Batch Banwag officers presented the UP Mindanao School of Medicine Concerns and Updates. Meanwhile, Student Regent Manalili and 2nd SR Nominee from UP Mindanao, AJ Lozano, conducted a Return Service Program Primer on the students of Batch Banwag to ensure that they are well-informed of their RSA contract. As of now, the batch has been enrolled without signing the RSA.

KASAMA sa UP Vice Chairperson for Mindanao Dorothy Tabanao and UP Mindanao University Student Council Vice Chairperson Bella Javarez also expressed their support to the current elected batch officers in transitioning their leadership into an institutionalized student council soon.

The UP OSR warmly congratulates the UP Mindanao School of Medicine and looks forward to continuing our commitments to uphold honor, excellence, and most importantly, service to Filipino communities where we are needed the most.

📣 BE AN OSR CORE VOLUNTEER! ❤️‍🔥

As we approach a new term, the UP Office of the Student Regent is looking for its volunteers to work closely with the Commissioners of the Regent in forwarding and championing the campaigns of the Iskolar ng Bayan, from UP Baguio to UP Mindanao.

The Office is open for volunteers in the following committees:

📝 Secretariat CORE Volunteer. This division will handle the regular paperwork of the OSR, from official documentation to letters and memoranda. This Officer will also oversee the legislative function of the OSR that regularly forwards resolutions or position papers to the Board of Regents and the UP administration.

📚 Education and Research CORE Volunteer. This division will handle OSR's goal to inform, educate, and capacitate the UP student body and everyone that it can reach through creating statements reflecting the stances of the students, writing responses to political developments, and launching projects that analyze and explain issues comprehensively.

🎨 Creatives and Publicity CORE Volunteer. This division will handle the creation of a brand book and publicity materials to be published online, for the OSR to maximize its reach to its constituents and the youth.

| The 1411th Board of Regents meeting concluded last 26th of August, wherein numerous matters across the UP System were discussed and approved by the BOR. Among the highlights presented in the digest are agendas concerning student matters.

On General Governance, the Student Regent registered its stance as a representative of the UP Tacloban student body and their demands for the first chancellor of the ninth constituent unit of the University. The newly-proclaimed 43rd Student Regent took her oath in the same meeting, and commits to being the unwavering and sole representative of the 65,000 Iskolar ng Bayan inside the BOR. A systemwide BOR mobilization was also led by the University Student Councils across the UP campuses to amplify the systemwide campaign of rejecting the looming P2.95 billion budget cuts for UP in 2027, while also carrying their respective local campaigns per unit.

The UP OSR commends the collective action of the student movement, from UP Baguio to UP Mindanao in ensuring that our voices are heard, whether within the Board or the democratic spaces of our campuses.

BASAHIN | Opisyal na pahayag ng Iskolar ng Bayan hinggil sa pandarahas sa mga nagbabarikadang mamamayan sa Kasibu, Nueva Viscaya sa gitna ng panghihimasok ng North Luzon Mineral Resources Corporation nitong ika-28 ng Agosto. Mula Cordillera hanggang Mindanao, mariin naming kinukundena ang mga pwersa ng estado sa mga mamamayan ng Kasibu na nagbarikdada laban sa panghihimasok ng NLMRC.

Mula UP Baguio hanggang UP Mindanao, malinaw ang mariin nating pagtutol sa nagbabadyang kaltas sa pondo ng UP. Harap-harapang pinapakita ng administrasyon ni Marcos Jr. na hindi niya prayoridad ang edukasyon, at sa halip, ay inuuna niya ang pagpapalaki ng badyet para sa korapsyon at pasismo sa gitna ng pagpapabaya sa sambayanang Pilipino.

Kasabay ng pagpupulong ng mga Rehente bukas sa ika-1411 Board of Regents Meeting, sabay-sabay na irerehistro ng mga iskolar ng bayan ang ating mga panawagan para magkaisa sa laban para sa sapat at mas mataas na badyet.

LOOK | Approved resolutions by the 61st convention of the General Assembly of Student Councils, held last August 6-8 at UP Mindanao.

These resolutions will guide student councils across the UP System for the first semester of A.Y. 2026-2027 in forwarding democratic rights of students and the people.

To the Honorable Chair, Co-chair, and Members of the UP Board of Regents,

It is with great pleasure to inform you that last August 9, 2026, the General Assembly of Student Councils has unanimously selected ANGEL MARITON R. MANALILI as the Student Regent for Academic Year 2026-2027, abiding by the democratic selection process governed by the Codified Rules of Student Regent Selection (CRSRS).

As per Article 9, Section VIII of the Codified Rules of Student Regent Selection (CRSRS), I am honored to declare ANGEL MARITON R. MANALILI as the new Student Regent, the sole representative of the studentry in the Board of Regents, the highest decision-making body of the University of the Philippines.

BALITA: Matapos ang mahaba at masinsing talakayan ng mga konseho sa General Assembly of Student Councils, hinirang bilang 43rd Student Regent si UP Open University (UPOU) Nominee Mariton Manalili.

Si Mariton Manalili ang kauna-unahang nominado at rehente mula sa UPOU, at ang papalabas na Chairperson ng National Executive Council ng Katipunan ng mga Mag-aaral sa UP (KASAMA sa UP). Dati rin siyang naging Secretary General ng KASAMA sa UP, at Vice Chairperson ng UPOU University Student Council.

Ganap namang hinirang si AJ Lozano ng UP Mindanao bilang ikalawang nominado at si Dylen Solomo ng UP Los Baños bilang ikatlong nominado. Kabilang din sa mga naging nominado sina Athena Romulo ng UP Cebu at Adrian Algas ng UP Diliman.

Ang Student Regent ang natatanging kinatawan ng mga Iskolar ng Bayan sa Board of Regents, ang pinakamataas na mapagpasyang lupon sa buong UP System.

Buong tapang at sama-samang nakibaka at nagtagumpay ang mga Iskolar ng Bayan sa taong nagdaan. Ngunit ang tugon ng mga naghahari-harian ay pananakot at karahasan.

Sa gitna ng gera at krisis, imperyalistang pandarambong, at kawalang-pananagutan, nananatiling matibay ang paninindigan at diwang palaban ng bawat Iskolar ng Bayan.
